Description

I do not know if you know who I am speaking of. Harambe was a Western LowLand Gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo in Ohio. It saddens my heart over the whole situation with the death of Harambe and the child who fell in the enclosure. I could rant and rave, but that is not what I want to do. My daughter and I went in April and May to the Zoo. My heart was so overwhelmed by the Gorillas, especially Harambe. He was just magnificent! He made my heart sing at the beauty of God's creations. My daughter sang for him in April and I believe he heard her over the noise. I know that this is hard on the family of the child and my hope is that the child is doing well. As for the Zoo and the other Gorilla's, my heart goes out to you.

I was sad to hear it also. the mother and the zoo are at fault for not having better barriers around the enclosure and the mother for losing track of her child. I read that the police are looking into charges against the zoo.

beautiful capture and gorilla. the zoo here is too hard to get such a capture. I was using a 500mm lense and it was not enough to do justice for the beautiful apes

This was such a shame, such a waste. These animals should be in sanctuaries, not zoos.

People HAVE to learn that fences on farms, ranches and zoos are to keep people out--to protect the animals!

It is sad to see that a beautiful species that is endangered had to be taken down this way. Regardless the Zoo should have had better enforcement to protect them.

A touching portrait & tribute. This was a sad event. It's easy to lay blame in hindsight, but not having access to all the facts, I try not to judge too harshly. I don't think any of the participants - the child, the mother, the zoo staff or Harambe - acted with malice. Of course, the zoo should do everything it can to prevent something like this from ever happening again, but, rather than always seeking to lay blame & find fault for every event, sometimes we just need to acknowledge that bad things happen & move on...

I too was so broken-hearted. This should never have happened and to me is one of many reasons zoo's are obsolete and cruel. While it is a blessing to observe God's grand creations it should be in setting of natural habitat where we are the ones caged as we observe. For Harambe let us fight for protection of species and for sweeping evolution of what a zoo mean.
