Description

We spent Friday afternoon through Saturday morning at Port Aransas, Texas, at the north end of Padre Island. We found an old hotel (rebuilt in 1925) with a verandah across the entire building and tiny rooms with no amenities. It was beautifully clean, and the floors, walls and ceilings were all wood plank. Big windows with blinds, red wooden rocking chairs on the verandah, and a warm autumn evening. Lovely! We walked on the beach, had a fantastic dinner, took a little walk, and then sat in those red chairs enjoying the twilight. Our sleep was interrupted several times by a happy wedding party that had taken about two-thirds of the hotel rooms, but it seemed charming rather than annoying, since we didn't have any schedule to keep. In the morning we found breakfast, rode the ferry over to Aransas Pass, and drove north to Houston. We didn't take our cameras to the beach ... this was shot with my phone. .......... It seems our thumbnails are now limited to 300px wide, and 200 - 500px high. How annoying. I've added this to my list.

You must have a super phone-camera, Tara. It's lovely also by the shine, colours and ripples. What a romantic hotel it must have been, plus a very romantic evening for you two, couldn't life be better? No wonder why they had there a wedding party. So again you are gonna to complain (for us), wishing you a lot of success, my friend. I can't understand all the changes, after the changes, why? (it's silly, right?)

Beautiful light and reflective quality to the shallow water over the sand. Impressive for a phone shot. That hotel you stayed at sounds so charming!

thanks again for going to the admins on our behalf. I personally let the site do my thumbnails, but that's because I'm lazy. I can understand why it's so frustrating, since those thumbnails are the first contact people have with our images. Good luck.

Your trip sounds idyllic (ala Mies' loving comment), and you seem to have found some lovely intimate accommodations. Your shot is very simple and pure, and the dark olive-red-brown-yellows are moody and quiet. It's gentle and beautiful. Who would've thought phones could do such a thing, 20 years ago? A quiet slice of life. I wish you a great time for the rest of your trip. And say hi to Jock for me!!!

"Hey, where'd everyone go?" This guy looks a little lost. The rippled reflections are terrific. Sounds like you and Bill are still on your honeymoon.

The movement of the water and the reflection make this a super gull portrait!

"Don't just stand there taking my picture with that phone..... Where's the food??" LOL He just has that 'throw food' look.. A fun shot of the little guy, Tara! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a day or two.

Oh, don't get me started...... The thumbs worked fine last week - I guess Rendo's programmers noticed something working right, and said "We can't have that!" I just about blew a fuse last night trying to upload my Tina image. I took FIVE times going back into the 'edit' feature to get the stupid 300 X 250 thumbnail to show up. I listed at least 5 vendor credits, also, but only two show up. Idiots. I'm not going to list vendor credits any more - maybe the vendors will get some action taken when they don't get credited any longer..

I kinda read them the riot act RE: the thumbnail issue last night on the forum right below your post. Several other folks commented about it too. This morning there was a reply from Little Miss Cheerleader that said "I'll look into it.." THAT ought to do it....

I love the fact that I can see the clouds reflecting in the water, surrounding the still gull. The little ripples make it seem like he's shivering, but I'll be it's not that cold down there!
