Description

I have a question and would appreciate feedback from anyone that is willing to give it. But first I realized that my characters could really use some updating. All my male figures were designed more than 10 years ago on the M3 model so I thought lets give M4 a shot. So here is Grys updated and redesigned on M4, what do you think? I included the old design for easy comparison. Now for me real question... How would you guys feel if I focus more on the writing and less on the art? The reason I ask is I can write a piece of a story in an hour or two where a picture can take me an excess of 23 hours. its the art that really slows things down. Don't get me wrong I like the art!!! Bit I'm thinking I will do one image, kind of like a cover to represent a book and will just re-post that image with each new part. I can always post pictures when new characters are introduced like I did with Ashlynn & Kindle. Let me know your thoughts? Thanks

I like the idea of more stories, so the occasional character driven illustrations makes sense, and personally prefer the character shot on the left- hope that helps!!

my feeling go with having a new image with each presentation. I am working on a graphic novel, and I have been pondering the same question. If your story paints a picture, then you can get by with one picture, like the early novels that had a sketch at the start of each chapter. Some of the graphics I have read needed the pictures. Good looking bad guys, if they are.

I first started looking at your images and skim reading your story but as time progressed I concentrated more on the story than the art. I kind of like the way Wolf does it. He has a basic cover design he uses and maybe if you feel inspired you could throw in a piece of art for key scene or when a new character is introduced.

I've tried a lot of different ways. My conclusion is that the visual art is a distraction from the story. And, you get an inaccurate reader count. Many people click on the image but never read the story. You can't really know if you are on the right track if you don't know your real count. So, now I have one book cover and if I feel the need to make visual art. I'll post it in a more appropriate category for visual art. I usually do visual art in-between stories while I'm in the waiting phase for the story to descend on me from the clouds. But, there is always a but... if it's a short story or poem or fable.. whatever, then yes, cover art might be appropriate.

I think both characters are great, though I favor the one on the right. As for picture with each story, there doesn't need to be, I agree with with wolfenshire, but I also enjoy your art, which you can post when you want to, so a Cover sheet to start would be great.

I like the hair on the left but I like the overall character on the right better, his eyes are larger and more noticeable. I do however like the bolder colors of the outfit on the left, but prefer the style of the outfit on the right. I wouldn't mind just one scene for the cover and maybe an occasional scene thrown in at key moments. When you are at a stand still in your story and trying to think of what to write next maybe you could do a render then.

I understand your dilemma, I've had a similar one for many years and have spun in circles so many times I've lost count. Using the same image when the focal is the story is not a problem in my eyes, and if it makes things easier for you, so be it. That being said, you did some great work here on the figures!! There is so much detail in them. :)

I like the updated version. Write the story and illustrate it later. You need to get the words down as they flow or you lose the feel of the story and forget the great lines that pop into your head.
