I was hoping to get a shot of grebes performing their beautiful courting ritual today, however they apparently don't like barking dogs or screaming kids. I should have known better than to go somewhere "quiet" on a Sunday!
This one was just about moving into position "A" when a loose labrador decided I was ******* fascinating and went berserk at me. The owners did a fantastic job of doing absolutely nothing. They will make wonderful parents. The dog I can forgive, it was just being a dog; but I do get really freakin fed up with being jumped on....
Anyway rant over... & thanks for looking...
Better zoomed, by the way...

Great shot - lovely bird. Your are correct about chances at being decent parents. The new generation is so thoughtless!!

A very handsome bird - its colors are beautiful emerging from the darkness of the water. Your treatment of the light is wonderful...

Dog owners like that give us all a bad name. A wonderful photo. I love the dark tones.

Excellent shot mate, I hate ignorant dog owners, I see them down at Richmond park frequently, they are jaw wagging about everything and nothing, whilst their dog is frightening herds of deer, F*****G Idiots, I go at them as noisily and as angrily as I can. Sometimes with a tirade of profanities that turn the air blue, but then I am a south Londoner, that's what we do :) I agree we cannot blame the dog. This government is fond of making oppressive laws against us, I think they should pass a law that all dogs in public should be leashed ZERO tolerance for offenders. I have on occasion been moderately attacked by some idiots dog, jumping up my legs and barking, On one occasion, I had welts on my legs from the dogs claws. Guy said "Sorry mate" My reply was, "too late to apologise mate, it doesn't exonerate you from being a total dick-head"

A jaw-droppingly lovely capture; the subtle darkness really enhances the beautiful plumage of the bird. Great detail! Dogs in public here are required to be on leash, although not everyone is compliant, as one would expect.
