Description

Well, not exactly. This is tree bark, shown up close and personal, captured 4/8/16 @ 8:04 am, and I didn't notice the facelike similarity to the legendary chap until I saw it on the computer screen. Many art interpretations of the golem have been created over the centuries. This one doesn't look too friendly, so I'll have to be more careful and observant when I'm out and about in the parks and streets. Incidentally, in Jewish folklore, a golem is an animated anthropomorphic being, magically created entirely from inanimate matter. The word was used to mean an amorphous, unformed material (usually out of stone and clay) in Psalms and medieval writing. Source: Wikipedia Free Encyclopedia.

Well he certainly has his eyes on you, I'd move slowly and cautiously back, Harry; great find and photo!

My grandfather used to talk about Golems...they were fantasies of the Eastern European stetls, and they scared me as a kid, even though they weren't all bad. You got the right idea here: It's a beautiful shot of very flaky bark, with intense sections and smooth sections. And a face is definitely there. You put in the eyes very subtly, with a little glitter around the edges. Very tactfully done. And there's a bit of flare on the far right, which kind of feels like spirits moving in. Fine work finding the hidden golem in this, and it's a fine photo in its own right.
