Hello everyone!
So I was staying with my parents over the summer, and my dad gave me a portrait photography masterclass with his camera - and I thought I'd have a go at doing a series of portraits of my characters using the same camera settings in DAZ Studio. This was also another excuse to play with Rosemaryr's wonderful Renaissance Caps and Ruffs freebies, available over at ShareCG.
Goffredo d'Avaresca, Claudia's husband, is the first one up, because I love the challenge of doing older character renders - and because I started with the hat and he seemed most likely to be wearing it :-)
I'm trying to up my game with these portraits as ideally I'd like to put them on a page on my blog - but that means real-world friends and family are going to see them, and they might not be as indulgent as you lovely people are to me, so I've got to get them looking as good as I possibly can. Eek.

There are caps and ruffs there? I must go collect those! I think this is a brilliant image - very like something from a movie, I think, just the quality is amazing of this work, the wrinkles came out wonderfully with the texture of the skin and I can see this man's character in his face. Superb!

I'd say it needs a few dabs of faux AO on the tash and goatee, say a black airbrush fairly large at 30% opacity, so the skin tone between the hairs is darker than the exposed areas. It needs to spill over the borders of the hair just a few centimetres also. Good subject, and say a big thanks to your Dad for giving you the idea. Gary
