Description

Here's page 2 in G4's story.. You will learn later on in Chapter 7 part of the reason for G4's "development" so much earlier than the other girls. It actually made me sad to do the image of her after being beat up.. 😪 But as you can see, she makes up for it! Lots of surprises yet to come. Chapter 7 is turning out to be bigger than even I was expecting! I'm ticking language and violence for this one.. Thanks so much for stopping by,and for all your awesome comments and support! Great page, Rod. It seems like she's developing her fighting skills early.

Girls can be total "witches"(I think I misspelled that 😁 ). I know because I was once young. I don't think I was ever on the receiving or dishing out end, but I witnessed it. Your panels were fabulous illustrating G4's trials.

Wow, I could never cover such vast cool history like you've done on G4 as with my Tina. Do need to come up with a partial part of her history some day. Love how you rendered her looking younger then present day. Each panel is so detailed and interesting Rod. 50☆'s.

Yay, good for G4! Tough when bullies get to work, wherever it is. Hopefully this leads somewhere better.

Wow. Good back story, I wait eagerly for more. Good job on making her look so young. Attention to details in each panel is fantastic. Also, thanks for seeing the world through a young girl's eyes.

I love this, Rod...all the scenes are so well done...great poses and expressions! Really enjoying this series.

This story reminds me of a couple of things.

Each time I think of bullies, the scene from "A Christmas Story" comes to mind...when Ralphie has had enough crap from a bully, Ralphie finally beats him up. Bullies pick on those who they perceive as weak...so the only way to change that perception is to "punch the bully in the nose"--nice and hard.

My own experience with bullies: I was small for my age and my hair was almost white--two brothers, who happened to be my neighbors, got their jollies by picking on me mercilessly on the bus going home--these two kept maliciously calling me "grandma," "shrimpy," and such. At the time, I had a Collie who was my best bud and really smart, my weapon of mass destruction--I had enough, so the next time these two started their bullying tune in front of my house, I called my Laddie and told him to sic these guys, which he did like a flash of lightning--seeing Laddie homing in on them, these two monsters ran home screaming and crying like little babies...they never bothered me again...I meant business :)

Right on! Collies are highly intelligent and loyal dogs - as well as beautiful.

Had my probs with bullies as well - I was the skinny kid and always a target for the bullies. Until - like G4 - I'd had enough, then I was like a little tornado. More than one bully went home with a bloody nose wondering WTF just happened! LOL

Rod, this is all so well done and I'm glad you shared it with us. I can't get over the amount of time you must have spent putting this altogether, and also on plotting out the story points, and the details in each image are so well done.

I think bullies are actually cowards in disguise......they only pick on someone that they know is weaker than they are.....then that makes the bully look big and tough. I'm glad that I have never had anyone bully me in school, because if they had.....I would've beat them to a pulp.....I was a tough little kid, but I was never a bully though. Hey Rod.....I'm glad that you finally fought back at the bully who was bullying you.....and glad to hear that you beat him to a pulp!!!! 'lol'!! I likey!! Anyways.....I'm loving this story Rod.......and can't wait to see the next chapter!! Awesome work!!!!!!

you got some amazing responses here, and some of you put those bullies in their place! I love how far back you're going with G4's history, and that you're doing it w/ such detail. Your 1st frame is a hard core country upbringing frame, with beautiful nature and wooden barns and home (whatever that is on the left): It's a scene from a movie. (And you're using a tall serif font---which I mention since you mentioned fonts: It feels like a storybook font, which totally fits here.) Tthe 2d scene feels like a real, small school, a 'country' school (I love the midwest feel of the scene and the outdoors here. Hard to imagine G4 is bored: You got boredom head on here! So she went through those phases like everyone else...I like the light too, and the way the blinds breaks it up as it pours into the room....Plus the students look like the real thing. (We've all been there...)

The 3d (pair) shows the buildup and aftermath of her bad encounter, and I love how you put your cat drawing on her t-shirt (she traveled all the way to your lair for that, and years ago!), and her uncharacteristic sad expression. Your clothing of her and the other models works consummately, as it always does. And the encounter with the teacher or board is something too many of us have encountered (the hands-in-the-air "I don't know.....I had nothing to do with it" bit). And--technical point---your angle is really good, it allows everyone to be seen. And I'm dying to know what's in that painting on the wall! It looks wild!

And the final frame---it feels like the beginning of the present G4: The event that turned eveyrthing around, ie, how she got started in her quest for justice. (When I was in h.school, no one DARED to say the "b" word, btw, at least where anyone could hear it...boy have things changed...) Your light on her is great, esp on her pants, as it makes her shine. And the criss-cross of the see-saw matches their personal tangle perfectly.

This is a great side journey, it's great to see the history behind these familiar characters. (I'm glad it's to be continued.) Bravo, Rod, you're doing a great job with this; and your composition, light, etc etc, is consummate as usual.

Sixth grade can be rough, it's seventh grade where brutality starts. I felt like I was in gladiator school, not middle school. Well, gotta learn to be tough, and she's handling her business.

Rod, you should have heard how loud Wen was cheering when she saw G4 throw that hook! 😃

And Tempestt being Tempestt: "Did Lard A$$ lose some teeth? If she didn't lose teeth, G4 didn't hit her hard enough..."

LOL - G4 sends a big cyber-hug to Wen and Temp... She said her hand was sore for a week after that.. 😁
