Description

Be prepared to meet thy maker, Knave!!! Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California. In the last photo, the Queen has willed that the lady in the violet dress is to be betrothed to the victor of the deadly duel above, whomever that should be. Her assigned lady-in-waiting is to her left. And, it is anachronistic and belies all logic for the medieval couple at the left to be texting. Ta ta.

They should forbid phones on the grounds of the faire for historical accuracy! I know in the old days of my youth the participants had to stay on the grounds under the same conditions that folks would have had at the time, cooking over fires and using latrine trenches, etc. No electricity, no modern stuff at all. I guess that's changed! So the fighting looks a bit more serious, but I'm still concerned about the guy fencing with the serrated knife, it appears he is about to carve his opponent into nice slices to serve to the ladies in the bottom shot...wonderful series, Harry, and truly excellent reportage!

First congratulations dear Harry for this beautiful and impressive collection of photographs made by you with a lot of talent! The last photo below is very instructive on the implementation status of companies with these troublemakers that are modern phone manufacturers ... what would be your reaction if my perfidious imagination you explained that these two characters on the phone are going with trick to talk interposed by SMS !!! AH AH AH !!!

My gaze was drawn to the bottom shot where I noticed obviously, the two young ladies talking as people have done for an age and half.. Notice the beauty of the girl on the right.. Now, on the left stands a scrunched up troll of a thing (I believe a woman), face embedded in her phone (maybe she would like it sewn there?).. How ugly she looks.. Great shots all (except troll girl! Rob

First I didn't notice the serrated knife until I read Denise, today. (When this went up, Denise hadn't gotten here yet.) Not knowing squat about swords, I couldn't say whether that sword is genuine or not; but it sure makes for an eye-popping sight. You caught the three in-fight with real in-motion poses, with what I assume are real fencing poses. Very clear as if they'd posed for you, and considering these people are in motion! Strong colors too. Then the last shot is a riot! The two woman (one to be betrothed) are sensible in this montage, but the two texters in back? Great capture. They're really into it too---I mean, if they're gonna text in 1530, they might try not be so immersed in it. That's a great capture to end this montage, as if this fight to the death above comes down to a "hey, I gotta tell Bill to turn off the gas!" Great expressions on those two. A terrific sequence with a great surprise at the end.

Unless my eyes deceive me, one of the swains in the first image seems to be watching from the sidelines as another takes his place. Maybe he lost interest in the fair damsel. Or, considering the enthusiasm of the the fellow in the teal vest, perhaps he was run off the field to cries of "No! You shall not have her! Or you either, of the serrated knife!" Great captures! I love the last one. The lady-in-waiting seems to be trying to divert her ladyship with an amusing tale. The lady is giving it polite attention while a few yards away, her future is being decided. The two in the back look decidedly modern, not only by their cell phones, but by there expressions. I think they are both seeing the same thing. A circle going around and around. The man is watching it with despondent gloom, while the woman is trying a different approach, "Maybe if I just keep poking it, it will connect." Excellent series!
