Description

An alarm ripped through the silent darkness. It took but a second for my mind to register the noise and then the voice yelled, “This is not a drill”! Oh crap, I said as crawled out of the lower berthing and opened my locker. Grabbing the first items on top and my boots I started dressing! “Not a drill” kept echoing in my mind as I ran from my quarters on the third deck to the hanger bay and headed aft hoping to make it my shop on the 03 level and the last compartment at the stern. Dodging the aircraft and the tie down snakes I finally made it to the shop, fully dress and in less than three minutes when they started sealing the ship up. I stood there amazed, I didn't think I could move that quick. Well finally got it done. Hope you enjoy. Rick

I can see no image, either. :-( But it is an excellent short story. These single paragraph stories are becoming quite popular these days.

An excellent completion of the writing prompt challenge. I could feel the excitement and the adrenaline as the crew member rushed to his battle station. You conveyed very clearly where we were and what was happening in the opening paragraph. I think you have a talent for writing. Of course, you have already showed that in the Ontar series.

I don't think a lot of people realize you don't have to use an image in Writer's Gallery.
