Description

Etna, a few minutes ago! The launch of lapilli, in contact with the snow, have caused explosions that hit some journalists who were much closer to the mouth of the crater erupting. The prohibitions exist and we must respect them... as well as also the nature deserves respect! A big hug to you all from Sicily! :)

Oh, my! Here we go again. Very beautiful from a distance, but WHY would anyone be foolish enough to get so close as to be cooked by exploding steam from lava bombs hitting the snow/ice? Your photo gives a LOT more than being in a hot steam bath. This is also a much better photo than what I've seen in the news reports today. Do you have more? If so, please share them! :-)

Oui, ces journalistes prennent beaucoup trop de risques pour faire un reportage sensationnel : ils ont la chance de ne pas avoir été tués! Ta photo est superbe. J'espère que tout rentre en ordre près de l'Etna !

The BBC team had a very lucky escape. Their film showed just how terrifying it was.

Great capture Maria. You have a front row seat so to speak. I saw on the news the other day what happened to the tourists and I couldn't believe how careless some people are. They had obviously underestimated the power of the eruption. I was up on Etna in 2007, up where the restaurant is and there were remnants of solidified flows right by the restaurant.
