Oh yeah... The story of Alan Turing is a great tragedy... It is a great place to study the proverbial british hypocrisy of the edwardian era of the empire ... His' Colossus' computer, probably the first real supercomputer in the world, was not only the tool of the deciphering of the Enigma code. He was used in the air situation analysis, the keyword search of telephone monitoring, automated fingerprint data evaluation, presumably the face recognition. Finally, calculations of the 'Tube Alloys' project and preliminary work of the' Black Knight '/' Blue Streak '(British multi-stage launchers). He helped with his work, the United Kingdom did not lose the war - and with it he enabled an elaborated Police State (Orwell's 1984 refers to 'Colossus', whose existence was denied until 1960). --- Sein 'Colossus'-Computer, der wohl erste echte Supercomputer der Welt, war nicht nur das Werkzeug der Dechiffrierung des Enigma-Codes. Er diente auch damals schon der Luftlage-Auswertung, der Stichwort-Suche der Telefonüberwachung, der automatisierten Daktyloskopie, vermutlich auch der Gesichterkennung. Nicht zuletzt Berechnungen des 'Tube Alloys'-Projektes und Vorarbeiten der 'Black Knight'/'Blue Streak' ( britische Mehrstufen-Trägerraketen). Er half mit seiner Arbeit, das Großbritannien den Krieg nicht verlor - und ermöglichte damit einen augefeilten Polizei-Staat ( Orwells 1984 bezieht sich auf 'Colossus', dessen Existenz bis 1960 geleugnet wurde).
