Spencer rushed back and forth through the damaged Antares until he reached engineering. Dragging tools and equipment out onto the deck, he scrambled to boost the coolant system and make repairs. With power down all over the ship, the engineering heat was higher than normal, and he downed bottles of water to help keep him cooler.
He flipped the comms panel on the support pylon.
"Flight deck." He called out. "Give me a reading on the coolant pressure."
"Sixty four percent and climbing. Coolant temp is now at fifteen hundred." Taters voice responded after a moments pause.
"Standby on that." Spencer went back to work. Linking in several bypass junctions, and making valve adjustments before he returned to the comms unit and hour later. "Tater! Readings."
temp at eight hundred. Pressure now available at eighty two percent."
"Throttle to three quarter. Keep your eyes on those readings." He waited patiently. The thrum of the engines gradually increased about him along with the roar coming from the main nozzles at the rear of the ship, vibrating through the deck plating, and then steadied out as the ship settled into a constant speed.
"Holding in the green, Daddy."
"Hold on that." Spencer nodded slowly. "Lets not push her too hard."
Spencer glanced about the engineering compartment, at the cracked lines and burnt panels that were now forever out of commission. He lightly patted the support pylon and nodded. "Good girl." He smiled. "One last time."
After locking all the settings into place. He made another inspection of what he had done. "lets see what else I can do now." He grabbed his shirt as he turned and headed for the door.
