Description

Part Seven - After just narrowly escaping an attack from the transfoming creatures known to the Doctor as the Vestok, he and Officer Andrea Blaine discover the remains of Sheriff Bill Plamer sitting beside his car. They stood in the cool night air just outside of the small town in British Columbia, as the Doctor finally confesses to Andrea of who and what the creatures are, and more importantly what his role was in their whole scheme. Andrea still shocked by his answer, is somewhat disappointed in the man standing there in his odd outfit, thinking that for such an intelligent man.....killing an entire speices was beneath him. But she soon realize that, after seeing what these creatures are like at first hand, his was the right decision to make. " So much death, and yet they're the ones that started it all really. If they hadn't been so overly aggressive they probably wouldn't be in the spot their in. But something puzzles me Doc, if you cancelled out their planet.....how come they're here...invading ours? " The Timelord walks over to her and places his hand on her shoulder. Glad to hear that she forgives him in some manner that what he had to do was best for the galaxy. But the smile on his face doesn't last as he explains the rest. " It would seem we Timelords have under estimated their kind's mutagenic properties, they must have reverted themselves into a more sporish sort of life form. Yes....that would explain alot. A chunk of the planet must have soft landed here on earth....near by I would think......and they laid dormant until.....they came into contact with a species they could latch on. " Andrea now beginning to struggle with his explaination, just sits and listens as he babbles on. The Doctor starts to get that look in his eye again, the wheels in that crafty Timelord brain of his spin as he thinks, again he rubs his hand on his chin as he talks to himself about the process. " Reverting to spores, becoming a virus....interesting. They must have been here for hundred of years. And the indians....yes the indians.....why haven't we seen any of them killed in some unspeakable fashion? They only seem to get infected and mutate......" He snaps his fingers to Andrea and motions her over to come confence with him, some what annoyed at that sort of " come hither " attitude he displayed, Andrea decides she'll humor him for the most part and join him. " Tell me Andrea, did either you or the Sheriff ever come across any native indian corpses? You know, like the ones you said you had discovered earlier....." She winces to remember, thinking hard she shakes her head, " No....none infact. Hey you know thats really weird, cause those guys kept reporting some of them missing, half the time came back. And when we asked them where they had been, they'd look at us and not say a word." The twinkle in his eye grows as he realizes whats been happening. " Of course you haven't.....because they are the Vestok. They must have some sort of symbiosis with the local natives here. I'll bet their ancestor families were exposed to the very spore that crash landed here and created a bond with the local inhabitants. And now...they're all beginning to take they're old forms again, yes....no doubt to take over the world and find a way target the timelords for termination. " Andrea follows his line of thought now, " Hey yeah...and then when the lords are out of the way, Vestok will have nothing to stop them from trying to reclaim the galaxy again. God Doctor......this is mind bending stuff man! " The Doctor smirks at her answer, " Yes.....mind bending alright. " He looks out into the forrest and starts to run into the dense brush. He screams behind for Andrea to follow him, " Come on Officer, it's time to lay down a bit of justice! " Andrea shrieks at his sence of adventure and tags along. Running through the dark forrest, the Doctor finds it hard to get his berrings. That is until Andrea turns on a flash light and hands it to him as she catches up. Together they run in the forrest, but Andrea has no clue as to what he's up too. " What's the plan man? Where we off to in such a rush? " , she howls out as her breathing becomes more heavy from all the running. The Doctor using the light and taking out a small device from his brown suede jacket pocket that looks like a compass, starts looking ahead, " To find my Tardis! I need something from it if where going to confront these things. I guess I should be grateful I'm such a pack rat, it seems like I happen to have something for every occasion! " " What the heck is that thing you've got? ", she looks as she runs beside him. The Doctor quickly shows her, " A transdimensional beacon locator. It homes in on my Tardis.....I'm the only one who knows its identification code.....and it looks like we're almost there! " They scurry up to the clearing and the Doctor quickly halts before he steps out. This causes Andrea to bump into him, she desperately tries to catch her breathe as she wonders what he's stopping for. " What...", She breathes, " What's the matter.." The Doctor frantically looks about the open field, in the middle of the lush field stands his dark colored blue police box. The night air is filled with a foggy haze, an almost sentimental effect that reminds him of those days in London, England. The cool night air and the sweat on his brow makes him chill to the bone as each droplet scrolls down the back of his neck. Not the most comfortable of jackets, but he knows he'll change into something more to his liking later on. Andrea is perspiring, but at least her heavy brown police coat is keeping her warm. Feeling his apprehension, she draws out her gun again. Not realizing that shes used it before on those creatures with no results, but still its better then no protection at all. She leans over to him as he scans the field with his eyes, " What's wrong now? " The Doctor looks at her and then back to the field, " Never trust an empty field....better to be safe then sorry I say. " Feeling theres no one there to harm them, he leaps out and starts making a dash for the Tardis, Andrea follows behind, but keeps ever vigilant with her gun pointed out. Quickly checking behind her from time to time, she follows closely to him. He takes out his key and opens the door. Andrea parks herself a the foot of the door while the Doctor slips in, keeping her eyes open, she too scans the field around for any sudden movement. What could he possilbly have inside that could stop these things, why was coming here more important then skipping town and notifiying some sort of military that specializes in this stuff, she wonders to her self. " Doctor! Hurry up.....Oooh I don't like this, I don't feel good about being here Doctor. Please hurry! ", she squeamishly says. In behind the dark wooded areas, a figure sits out of view watching the Police Box and the very frieghtened Andrea. A puff of smoke billows from the figure, the puff lights up the weed from the breath taken and a pair of wrinkled eyes are lit up as they stare out into the field. A second puff of the smoke follows and casts the eyes back into the darkness. Andrea still feeling scared, starts to tremble, the gun in her hand is shaking....as too is she. " Doctor...", she quietly squeals. Just then the Doctor quickly emerges, and startles the poor blonde beauty to death. " FOUND IT!" "AAAHH! ", she cries out, " Don't do that! Gawd....I'm having a hard time trying to keep it together as it is..." She looks at the smiling buffoon as he takes some joy out of making her wet her pants. In his arm is a black cylinder, smooth with a coulple of red buttons potruding from the top. No bigger then his arm it would seem, yet looks like its as light as a feather to him. " Thats it? Thats your big surprise.....Gawd....", she scoffs. "What? ", says the Doctor. " I dunno Doc, I guess I was thinking you had some sort of lazer or even a bigger gun then mine to use. ", she says with a disappointing tone. He smiles, " You watch too many science fiction movies.....you know that? " She shakes her head in disbelief. He taps at her head in a quirky strangeness, and then takes out another device in his pocket, this one is full of electrical lights and annoyingly sounding beeps. The thing does look more like what she had envisioned, those futuristic movies she had seen during her lifetime almost gave her an exceptance of his wonderful devices. But still the inquisitive human she was, she had to know what it did. " Ok.....that looks more promising! Now, what does that do? ", She says in a low voice. The Doctor almost humors her, leaning in close to her face he utters back in the same low sounding tone she gave him, " It goes beep. " "Haha...Doc. Come on.....", rolling her brown eyes at him. He starts walking with the device outward from himself, and keeps looking at it and out towards the forrest as he walks. " It is infact another locator. Only this time....we're locating something else.", he tells her in his rather smug scientist manner. "Aaand that would beeee...? ", She asks. Seeing a massive red blip on his device's screen panel, he lowers it and gives a big grin. The black pod shaped object nestled in his arms, he tries to pocket the scanner back into his pocket after seeing the red dot. " The Vestok! Yes....there we are! Time to finish what I started my dear. They have to return to their planet at times to process the blood they've injested....its their way of filtering out the impurities. " She starts to realize what that means, " I see....so the only place they could do that....is at the..." The Doctor turns to finish her sentence, "....meteor chunk from which they came. Yes." He turns back to the direction that the locator showed them where they were, and begins to walk confidently to the area. Andrea seemingly hesitant, carefully walk behind him. His stride is brisk, as though he's enjoying the challenge. Andrea is still amazed at the man's pace, she's almost out of breath from all the panicing and the running, makes her wonder just what this so called Timelord has for organs to give him such cardiacal boost. As the two of them disappear into the dark forrest and make their way to the evil slimey green creatures lair. The mysterious figure that had watched them, walks out into the open field when they leave. It's Crowhead, still smoking his pipe and holding his walking stick tightly with is one hand. A strange smile creeps on the man, as he chortles at the Doctor's enthusiasm.
