Description

The natural landscape Barruecos declared a natural monument by the Junta de Extremadura in February 1996.1 a legal instrument guaranteeing the protection of this area in order to preserve it for future generations. To justify the application of the protection regime in this environment many reasons wielded great weight in relation to the importance of the geology, flora and fauna of the area, as well as archaeological remains that attest to a continued human presence in the region. This official recognition is largely due to the media coverage generated by the project for the Museum Vostell Malpartida in 1976, he was promoted and placed in these areas by the German artist based in Extremadura Wolf Vostell, painter, sculptor, pioneer Installation and Video Art and one of the leading figures of the Fluxus movement. The Barruecos are about 14 kilometers from Caceres, in the municipality of Malpartida de Caceres, about three kilometers south of the city center.
