Description

Cassini passing Enceladus The Cassini spacecraft passing Saturns moon Enceladus on its way to Titan to insert the Huygens probe for the first landing on a moon of Saturn. NASA created the model with some modifications by me. Cassini shot the image of Enceladus as it continues to explorer the Saturn system. This will be my first post in over 3 months as I have been busy with various projects, which includes both art and music. I would like to wish all my friends here a Very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I do not believe in saying Happy Holidays as this specific time of year was but for one purpose and that is the birth of Christ. All the best, David PS: I have just replaced the image with the corrected Saturn size...;-)

Beautiful image and Merry Christmas to you too! (But shouldn't Saturn be very very big from Enceladus?)

One tiny detail, Enceladus orbits a lot closer to Saturn than is seen in this picture, its orbit is around 170.000 to 180.000 km from Saturn where its apparent diameter is around 29 degrees. This looks more like seen from around Titan wich is more than a million km away from Saturn where its only about 5 degrees, mind you that is still more than twice the diameter of earth as seen from the moon. On the other hand, Enceladus is one of the most intresting moons in the solar system, its the first place outside earth where we actually found liquid water.

That is a gorgeous model of Cassini. I downloaded NASA's model myself, but never used it as it seemed kind of crude compared to the wonderfully detailed work I've seen you do. I'm glad I didn't use it, as you've gone and done an impressive revamped probe that looks fantastic.

A splendidly done render worthy of NASA artists. You should be proud of this one, David. Always appreciate your attention to the details.
