Description

Heading for Pie, JS and 'the ship-girls' were engrossed in the discussion about the color of the hull. Etta vetoed red, that appealed to Vickie: "Nothing that makes me remember that damned Bloody Dawn!" she stated closing the issue. Vickie had also a penchant for green, but eventually JS closed the question suggesting a stormy blue. "Don't you think we might have the look either for an Earthener ship or one of Pie's?" Vickie asked. "We are privateers at the service of Pie, and we carry its colors. By the way, EA's Blue is darker." "Are we sure about the name?" Etta asked, igniting a new discussion. A side effect of Etta's misadventure was that now she was less cocky. At the end JS suggested: "If Eve agrees, you'll go on as Victoria and Vendetta, but the sum of you, this ship, I'd call her the 'Wild Goose'. A good name for a privateer ship!" Done last leap from the hyperspace JS immediately felt that Eve had not yet arrived. "Maybe Eve left a day late, Jay." Vickie offered sensing his nervousness. "Yes, maybe at the last moment her mother showed up, and they postponed their trip." added Seven Stars, the Space Station. "She'd have called telling me her new ETA." JS replied. "Not if she thought you were already jumped into the hyperspace." Iskra countered. JS said nothing but an unpleasant gut feeling began to unravel along his spine. Shortly later, however, a yell from Roma distracted him from his gloomy forebodings. "Gee, boss, she's beautiful! Can we come on board?" "Of course. NMS Wild Goose eagerly expects her crew!" When the group arrived, JS welcomed them together with Etta's and Vickie's avatars he had insisted they publicly showed: "Everybody knows that you're persons, so they should see you as well!" he said. Once on board everybody raved about the Wild Goose. Roma and the other pilots did a couple of passages around the ship to rub their eyes; then everybody headed to the mess where an inaugural banquet was ready. "She'll come tomorrow, Jay!" S-Anita said seeing the veil of concern in JS's eyes. "Don't worry, boss, Eve now is an S-Marine through and through!" O'Malley added. But the day following Eve had not yet arrived. It was not until the dawn of the second day from his arrival, Pie Time, that a shuttle asked to land on the flight deck of the Wild Goose: on board there were Eve's father, Vasquez, Ishikawa, Laetitia, S-Victor and Lee. A cold, composed JS welcomed them in the meeting room. He knew why they were there and couldn't wait to leave in search for Eve, but for Eve's sake, he motioned for them to sit down. Eve's father was in a turmoil, so he jumped up from his chair shouting: "Sishia, Eve's mother, went missing for nearly three weeks! She never called, nor replied to my calls, she'd to be already back! Do you know if she's with Eve?" JS replied politely: "Eve was never able to meet her, for all I know. But why hadn't you told Eve before she left that her mother was missing?" JS remarked. "I was a little 'taken' .... the elections, you know ..." The father of Eve looked down ashamed. "Eve was supposed to be here two days ago." JS replied. "Now I fear the worst has happened." "Don't be pessimistic." Laetitia said. "Well, that's not 100%, cast iron fact. But it's way, way too shady to be dismissed!" "We'd like to help." said Vasquez. JS glared around the table: "I'm sorry but you're useless. This is a game of shadows, not of armies. In any case I'll keep it in mind. Now go, in this kind of game I won't waste time fucking about.' Everybody got up to leave. At the doorstep Eve's father turned to say: "Bring them home, Jay!" Lee, the last to leave, pleaded: "Jay, I'd really like to do something!" "Don't you believe you've done enough?" There was a baleful glance in JS's eyes, then he put on a blank expression that made Lee shiver. -- Thanks!
