Description

"Do you remember your time at the Body Bank?" G-87's haughty voice caught with fear. "Every single second spent here, and my memories begin very, very soon. You made me so." JS replied with an icy knifelike voice. Furtively G-87's fingers glided across the keyboard. JS grinned: G-87 was unsuspecting, his mind wide open. Time to crumble G-87's certainties. "It's useless to call the other Grays: their throats have been cut, everyone of them." G-97 blushed. It was interesting how the Grays blushed with terror, while Eartheners and Rasharrs paled. G-87 became vermilion: "You're a telepath!" he accused hoarsely, excitement mingled with terror. JS just smiled. "You must return your body, T-9F22," G-87 cajoled using the name by which JS was IDed in the Body Bank database, Test-9 Flaviani22, then added incredulously. "How could you kill my fellow Grays, three of them were members of the 104s!" Again, JS just smiled as he forced G-87 to get off the Operation chair. "G-100 was one of the greatest experts of ORFans. It's an immeasurable loss for science!" "I remember G-100 very well. An evil bastard even more vicious than you, I must say." "He was one of your Makers. He had the task to control the objects of our experiments." G-87replied with conviction. "How dare you say I'm evil! I follow orders. Science comes first." "It's a matter of opinion." JS replied. "It depends on which side the probe or pod you stand. Why is my body so important? The Body Bank is full of guinea pigs." JS asked. "It's part of the agreement with Mr. Flaw. He is your human Maker. We promised your body in exchange for his services." The Gray burst with excitement: immortality, telepathy, exchange of minds ... shreds of thoughts clashing in his mind. "Why just my body?" JS insisted. "I wasn't the only experiment done with Flaw's gametes." "The others failed because of you," G-87's voice rose several octaves. "The T-9 product line was to be our second flagship product after the cicadas: the perfect soldier. A revolution compared to Wabis. Profits in trillions and new bodies and DNA to mix, but you've ruined everything torching the laboratory together with all the samples." "You had the lab log." JS retorted. G-87 shook his head. "No. I didn't trust the Flaw bloke and I never logged what dark matter of protein space or junk DNA I activated. My experiments were in encrypted files in the lab." JS mind-read G-87 had hidden his files also from his peers, to get the credit if the experiment was successful. "But even that fiendish Flaw didn't trust us and secretly modified your DNA, writing everything by hand in a notebook!! A paper notebook, dammit!" "And when I put a match to the lab, you lost everything!" JS laughed wryly. "Without the dam's ova and protocols, we couldn't reproduce the experiment." Engrossed in the discussion G-87 hadn't noticed JS had stripped him and walked him to an empty pod. "Inside!" JS ordered. "No!" G-87 struggled. Excruciating pain paralyzed him. "Where did you learn this move?" He cried as tears streamed down his face. "On Gray 9." "Gray 9 is our Aal reservoir!" "The best place to hide." JS guffawed and laid G-87 in the pod. The cannulas penetrated automatically into the numb body. "Let me turn you over to the Council. Now that we have the telepath, we can aspire to immortality. I'll convince them not to hurt her." "Tell me more." JS said. "We think our soul-searching is over: the telepath will move the soul from one body to another. Our bodies are too old and we can't fix them anymore, but if we can shift our soul into a younger body, we'll live forever." G-87 was lying: he had no intention of helping Eve. "Get me out of the pod. This is torture" G-87wheened. "No, IMHO it's bloody science." JS closed the pod bladder letting the pod cannulas suck G-87's fluids. Unfortunately the bastard didn't know where Eve was held, but the Council knew. It was time make them spit it out.

Super illustration to accompany your story line. I'm afraid genetic experimentation may become all too real.
