Creeping buttercup - Ranunculus repens
King County (Seattle, WA), classifies this non-native invasive buttercup species as a Weed of Concern. Well, that's better than a noxious weed:-)

I'm not as concerned about them as I used to be! LOL! This is a gorgeous photograph of something I have spent years of my life trying to banish. Now that I no longer spend time on plant banishment (aka weeding), I can enjoy them a bit more. :) This is superb work, hon. :*

Given the number of these around every spring (and it seems to grow exponentially every year) they don't seem terribly concerned. Personally I like them, and would never pull them out of anyplace they wanted to grow, but that's me. What a wonderful capture you got here; I try constantly to get a shot that shows that interior detail of these, and fail miserably every time, mired in way too much yellow. I don't know how you did this, but it works incredibly well!

A big beautiful torch in the midst of deep darkness. Great that you have just one flower---it's all you need to bring out its striking presence. In the yogic world, we spoke of "presence" all the time to mean one's essence. This flower has essence, and it blasts into the image with all of it intact. You have just enough green---and light---to bring the background to life. And the rest---the black---sets off the buttercup beautifully. A beautiful solo shot, and the interior of the flower shines, in your hands, like it's just been 'freshly painted'. I always zoom, and, as always with fine photography like yours, the zoom makes the image burst into our eyes. Beautifully done, Bill. A flame!
