Description

Looks like Briana's pet wyvern has got her into trouble. Rendered in Poser 7 Pro. It would be hard to find a pixel that hasn't been postworked in this one. Even with a few dark shadows, the even daylight lighting of the picture made it look really flat and bland and left me unhappy with it. By chance I was browsing an ImagineFX magazine in the newsagent during my lunch break and came across an article about what digital artists call "values" - basically using light and dark to make the most important parts of an image stand out. So I put a mid-grey overlay layer on the whole image and then painted over the important bits in lighter greys and the unimportant bits in darker greys. I wasn't too careful about colouring within the lines, so you can see a sort of glowing outline around the key characters. This is part 4 in a series of desktop images for my girlfriend's netbook. Aims of the series are: - to use some of that cool stuff that sits unused in my runtimes; - to keep the process quick and easy by avoiding making or modifying content; and - to have some fun and provide my girlfriend with a new desktop image every month or so. Yet again I've broken the rules. I just didn't have enough suitable clothing for the townsfolk, so I hit the platinum club and picked up a few cheap outfits. That part wasn't too expensive at least, but then I bought some horse and rider poses as well, since I figured this series would give me lots of opportunities to use them. Oh well, at least I didn't build or modify anything this time. Credits: Once again my friend Noggin's animal catalogue has shown it's usefullness, with the chicken, geese and peacocks all from him (DAZ). Briana and her accessories are by Danie, Marforno and LadyRhi (DAZ). The unicorn's tack is by the lovely mistress of all things horsey, Daio (Renderosity). The sets are by Faveral (DAZ). Briana's pet wyvern is by SilverKey3D as is the donkey (DAZ). Horse and rider poses by ChristineG (Renderosity). Most of the townsfolk are dressed by the DAZ platinum club.
