Description

The "Quad" A wonderful bit of kit for the Welsh (Wales .U.K.) Shepherd. But he still needs his old fashioned Collie to do the job. The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the English-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience. Ranked number one in Stanley Coren's The Intelligence of Dogs and typically extremely energetic, acrobatic, smart and athletic, they frequently compete with great success in dog sports, in addition to their success in sheepdog trials and are often cited as the most intelligent of all dogs. In January 2011, a Border Collie was reported to have learned 1,022 words and acts consequently to human citation of those words. Have a nice day.

One man and his dog! I used to have a BC called lucky. He got far too roustabout for the home environment, in the end he went to the met to train to be a cadaver dog, my silly idea to have a dog meant for the wild in a house. People eh?

If you want an almost equally intelligent dog that isn't too rough for an urban home, then you need a toy poodle. This is reckoned to be the second most intelligent after the BC. Mine could have done the Telegraph crossword if she could have held a pencil !
