Description

The tree was made with Blender's Sapling script, further edited in Blender itself, with compositing also done in Blender. Rendered with Blender's internal render engine (I have not learned to use Cycles yet). Textures done in Corel Photo-Paint and Genetica.

Very articulate work, Nanette. You've actually run with this - I got part-way with that Sapling thingie but had to go back to shader-writing. You've inspired me to have another go. I'm impressed with where you've gone with Blender! You are really quite clever, as well as an artist with a discerning eye.

Thank you Robyn. The suggested tree generator for the course was Arbaro, but I didn't relate to the interface. I explored Sapling on my own, since it is now part of Blender, and then applied some of the finishing touches that we learned on the course. Making a young tree or something that looks like a bonsai is easy, I wanted to make a big old tree. Still have a lot to learn.

Thank you Ines and David. Yes, the leaves chew up memory, but not quite as badly as the smaller branches and twigs.

Thank you very much. I still need to learn how to refine my trees and make them more graceful, but they are already better than the trees I made in Bryce.

An interesting tree, looks like it would grow in a lush primitive landscape.
