Description

Throw away the lights, the definitions, And say of what you see in the dark From this the poetry springs:  That we live in a place That is not our own and, much more, not ourselves And hard it is ... —Wallace Stevens We have an inalienable right to create.  I would like to say that we have a right to a beautiful and healthy world.  But this is not so; art and a beautiful world are made by hard work and free play.  They are not rights but privileges.  We have the right to work, to earn it.  Our work links art and survival, art and healing, art and social change. We now find ourselves, as individuals, as nation states, and as a species, involved in a period of intense and often bewildering transformation. The systems of government, production, culture, thought and perception to which we have become accustomed and that have functioned for so long are not working.  This presents us with a challenge.  We can cling to that which is passing, or has already passed, or we can remain accessible to ... even surrender to ... the creative process, without insisting that we know in advance the ultimate outcome for us, our institutions, or our planet.  To accept this challenge is to cherish freedom, to embrace life, and to find meaning. —Stephen Nachmanovich
Come and dance with me a while .. if you wish to?  I am in a Black & White mood these days. Are you finding inspiration in these recent weeks and months?  I hope so.  These are rare, transformative times.  We would do well to create works from within the midst of them. In future days we shall look over our shoulders and be profoundly glad we lived to experience such times. With my warmest regard and friendship, Terry Supplemental:  That's my Shiloh, by the way.  ;-) Rendered in Poser 8. Black & White and Depth of Field crafted in Photoshop. The background is derived from an original photograph of a house I once lived in back down the road a ways.

This is a welcome surprise! So nice to have you back again. What a wonderfully winsome gal you have here and I just love the high contrast, BW was a good choice! Despite the absence of colour I do detect a spring mood :)

the DOF in this is marvelous--really highlights your beautiful subject. Also adds that oh so subtle element of mystery that makes you want to learn more...

B&W has an enduring power that is too rarely seen on this site. Like the use of PS for the background - the delicate use of light is excellent.
