Description

Okay, finally an illustration that's not a cover. Well, not yet, anyway. This is from my story "Automata Futura," which is coming out in the steampunk anthology HOT AND STEAMY this summer. The antho is full of sex/romance related steampunk stories. "Automata Futura" features Zoe Tesla from my previous steampunk story, "Birds of a Feather" -- out in last year's anthology STEAM PUNK'D. She was a supporting character there, but -- much to my surprise -- became the lead in this tale. She's the one with the welding torch and the glasses. And, to answer a question before it's asked, I _do_ sometimes work on illustrations with no story behind them. But I'm a storyteller by nature, so I tend to naturally gravitate to images that I want to write about. Often for me, a story starts with an image in my head. Other times, the image comes as I write. And to answer a second question: Yes, I love METROPOLIS. (You _must_ see the new restoration -- on a big screen if you can!) I have a variation on this cover that I may share someday, too. Enjoy!

~Great scene...I especially like the welder's torch effect...nicely done! I got into 3D art as a means to illustrate characters and scenes from story ideas. Done more with the scenes than the stories...lol!~

Great work, and while "Metropolis" is the first that springs to mind, it also makes me think of Asimov's "Robot" novels and stories.
