Description

I don't know if looking at a glacier is helping you feel better Tara, but give it a try. People can be seen at the end of the glacier and the lighter line on the left on the glacier is the road extension that the buses use to bring people to the point where they board tracked vehicles that take them further up. The buses can be seen stopped in the middle of the glacier. The Athabasca Glacier extends for a couple more miles up and is only one of several glaciers emanating from the Columbia Icefields. Wicked capture and a great get well card for Tara. This should help keep her cool and calm.

I was there many, many years ago, and of course it was much closer to the road at the time! It's a place that has stayed with me, and it's wonderful to see it again, especially since we didn't get to go up there this fall. Thank you for the cold glacier and the warm thoughts, and especially for your telephone call this afternoon. It's always nice to talk to you, and I appreciated you checking in to see how I was doing. I'll try to stay out of the hospital from now on!!

What a breathtaking view of this bit of extreme nature! Wonderful shot, and I hope Tara gets set free from medical oversight very soon!

you mean you did not drive your Bimmer up there? I have wanted for a long time to touch a glacier, but if I do not hurry up they maybe gone. beautiful scene and good detail even though there was heavy clouds

@Richardphotos: No Richard, I wouldn't have driven up there even if I could, but the road is closed to all traffic other than the sightseeing buses!!

Those glaciers are disappearing fast. Scary thing is all of our water comes from the North Saskatchewan river, which comes from these glaciers. A lot of rivers will simply disappear soon.
