All the dense green areas are apple orchards near Lake Chelan in eastern-central Washington State.
While western Washington is green and wet, eastern Washington looks like the hills in the background...dry and brown except where irrigation is the norm.

I'm with the above. This is one splendid shot, Bill. And you've got this very soft feeling to the hills and the clouds, which makes them almost a dream. The clouds are like cotton or fleece, and the hills almost feel painted on. Wonderful contrasts, with the deep dark greens of the bottom half, next to the paler pinks and beige-oranges of the hills, and all those blues and whites in the sky. Big, sweeping and magisterial, and very inviting too. This has so many of your qualities as a photographer: You get monumentality while also making it delicate and intimate. Those qualities don't often go together, but they do in a ton of your work. Splendid. (And the dark reflections in the far-water are beautiful too.)
