Description

As I went to post this, I was surprised to see that it's been almost a year since my last Bryce post. I have been focusing my creative energies on photography (you can see my Renderosity photo gallery here), but I occasionally get the Bryce itch & here is my latest effort. As always, this is all Bryce with no postwork. One of the things that has discouraged me from doing more Bryce is that when one of my pieces gets to a certain level of complexity, Bryce gets bogged down & slows to a crawl every time I create or move an object. Rendering is not an issue - this one took less than a half hour - it's just the object manipulation that becomes painfully slow. I have a reasonably fast Intel i7 processor (8 logical cores) & recently upgraded from 6gb to 12gb of memory, which I hoped would improve Bryce performance, but it hasn't. I will probably continue to dabble with Bryce occasionally, but find it too frustrating on a regular basis...

Beautiful! Gorgeous colors. Yes, Bryce can be a pain. I still prefer it over other programs, though. :-) Corrie

Wonderful! I like the organic vibe this has. I can see where you got the anteater title. Your sense of color is unerring, btw, in case I'd neglected to mention that before. :P Love it! Thanks for the heads up. I don't follow the Bryce gallery, and would have missed this. When you post another one next year, be sure to give another reference! :)

I've never worked with Bryce, so I wouldn't know the troubles you speak of; but I can imagine how frustrating they'd be. I'm glad you returned though, because your mandalas are joys. I've meant to return here since my last visit. This has the boldness of many of your other mandalas, and a very visceral 'touchability' that your others have too. And I agree with Tara about your color-sense: You place color next to color with a fine sense of harmony as well as contrast. Even your 'very' contrasting hues (like blue and red) are gentle next to each other, rather than clashing. And as you color each row or object, etc, they seem to go well with each other rather than create a pileup of colors that all reach out for our attentions. You're very intuitive at these. And there's play as well as seriousness in them. I have to make a note to come back here again, I loved what I saw before. Nice to see you return here, if even briefly. A big bold sensual mandala, that's playful as well as serious.
