Description

Hello again! Our journey ended here a few weeks ago and this place was our "chill-out area" after two weeks of traveling, photographing and strolling around under a burning hot sun! We are here at the most southly point of Europe, near the little spanish village of TARIFA at the Street of Gibraltar. Tarifa is the point were the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet each other. The beach here is called "Playa De Los Lances" and is part of the Atlantic Ocean. Description: We are looking in eastern direction; the dark peninsula in the middle a few miles away is the place of Tarifa Village; the small dark island right nearby is a forbidden military areal. The mount in the background should be the rock of Gibraltar and the row of mounts at the horizon is Africa - the coast line of Morocco with the Rif Mountains. The distance between Tarifa and Morocco is only 14 kilometers and there is a steady ferryboat connection between Tarifa Harbour and the moroccan city of TANGER. You can organize dayly excursions. Tarifa is very famous for its steady and strong winds, which change only two times in year. This steady winds generate a paradise for windsurfers and kitesurfers and the surrounding special tourism. It is the most famous place in Europe and the worldwide number Three after Hawaii and Fuerteventura, one of the spanish Canary Islands. But: Watch out - winds and sea in front of Tarifa is not for newbies! It is an highspeed wind area only for masters in surfing! And there are very sad circumstances, too (I noticed that yesterday when I read something for this article here): Many people from Africa try to come to Europe across the Street of Gibraltar for a better life. They start at night in Tanger or smaller moroccan villages with often damaged fisherboats, without compass, without water, some of the boats totally overcrowded - and many of them fail! There should be strong winds here every time, suddenly high waves and powerful waterstreamings. Sometimes you can find dead bodies here at the beach, maybe dozens at one time of this poor people. Most of them go out with strong streamings to the Atlantic Ocean and will never seen again. The andalucian authorities think about 2. 000 dead people at the Street of Gibraltar - every year! Friends, I was very shocked when I read this yesterday! Goodbye for the moment! I was very happy about your reactions for my first pic here, thanks for this warm welcome to all of you! And a special THANKS for the one who took my first as a favourite! See you later this evening again!

Cool!
