I would guess the same reason you know this version of his name, intellectual curiosity. Why spend time pursuing knowledge that has no practical use in this day and age? Though I would suggest mankind's intellectual curiosity is what has propelled us from the tree branches to the Apollo Missions. Sadly based on our history I would bet dollars to doughnuts it will also be our doom. :-(
You've given him a commanding presence (well-deserved I might add) and it's refreshing to see that someone of that strength need not look like a modern-day body builder :) I know who he is since his labors were part of my storybooks as a child (I'm Greek). There are, however, several more characters in Greek mythology of that name not to mention that I first thought of the poet before looking at the image.
There is however something that bothers me (through no fault of your own) and why I very rarely attempt such images and that is the lack of suitable ancient architectural elements that would look realistic. Most are ruins since that's how people have got to know them but these would have been complete buildings back then. :)
