In my mind I can see you
So clear, so close, so real;
My spirit sings with yours
And in my heart I feel
How much we two are one;
One soul, one thought, one love.
As closely matched as
My fingers to your glove.
And yet you are not here
Nor might you ever be;
Our lives are not our own.
Your smile I cannot see,
Nor hold you in my arms;
Hear your laughter so bright,
Or taste your lips so soft;
Not even kiss you goodnight.
I love you and am happy,
I love you and am sad.
Is this love we two share
Love that cannot be had?
I do not want to know;
It is too hard to bear.
All I do know is this:
This day, our hearts we share.
And you shall always live in that heart,
Where I will love you until the end of time.
