Description

Captured back on 4/5/08, early in the AM, somewhere within the vast perimeter of my neighborhood. A ZOOM would be your benefit. And to think that I thought these were roses at first. Silly me. Although the varieties of Ranunculaceae run into the hundreds, not so sure about the white ones shown here. Andrea would know. Ciao, thankx for looking in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

Love this 'in your face' photo Harry. Your flower shots are every bit as good as you antique car shots...sharp, clear, detailed. Wow...

Again, Bill said it as well as I ever could, and in a lot fewer words too. "In your face"---again that talent for capturing flowers face-forward, without losing all the inner shadows & undulations that "face forward" would seem to erase. And, as for knowing they're not roses: You all have me beat in that, Harry. I've drawn flowers for years and still can't tell you one specie from another. It's pitiful. How you all know so many varieties, I have no clue. But the main thing is that you've captured these in a very direct way, yet with all the 'shy, turning from the camera' features of some of the more reticent flowers. The color combination is beautiful, and the play of hue with shade is beautiful too. I agree with bill that your flower shots are every bit as good as your antique car shots, and that's a bold statement, since your antique car shots are unique...I looked up "ranunculus," btw, and it comes from the Latin meaning, "little frog". (I have nooooooo clue!) But, impressively, you used the Latin plural, which puts you in a rare category on most sites. A beautiful shot & 'group photo'. "Sharp, clear, detailed..." (Bill.)
