After I retired I needed something to do and posting pictures was one of the things that kept me busy. I found out about this site from my brother Wolfgang (billcody).
My interests are in geography/history/astronomy and everything related to it. Topographic features, weather related phenomena, both meteorologic and climatologic, mapping, remote sensing, photogrammetry, air photo interpretation, and travel. Also aircraft, the faster the better, sports cars, and Formula 1 racing. In 1964 I bought my first camera, a Minolta 16, and in 1966 I bought a Nikon SLR and several lenses at the Navy BX in Bangkok, Thailand and in Tokyo, Japan.
In the early 2000s we started to use digital cameras at work to provide photographic evidence for our inspection reports because they were more cost effective, I have used digital cameras ever since. My photography is primarily used for my travels.
Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, left for Toronto, Canada in 1960 and came to New York City in 1962. Spent 30 years in the US Air Force/Arizona Air National Guard. Received a BS in Geography from Arizona State University (1979). Attended University of Georgia and received a MA in Geography (Urban Planning) from ASU in 1982.
Was hired by the Defense Mapping Agency for a cartography position, but despite the fact that I had a background investigation run on me by the OSI, I could not get the position because it required a SCI (Sensitive Compartmented Information) clearance, and that in turn requires that all immediate family members were US citizens.
Worked for the Arizona Department of Water Resources for 23 years in the Adjudication Division (Litigation Support), Hydrology Division, and Engineering Division (Dam Safety). Live in Phoenix, Arizona. My uploads are usually travel related,
