-BIOSo you want to know a bit more about me, do you?
My real name is Ian Magee and I live in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Although I am married, I have no children at the moment. I am currently in my mid-thirties. I hold an honours degree in Medieval History and plan to finish my master's thesis one day....
I am currently employed by the IT department of a medical research institute affiliated with the University of Sydney.
My personal interests tend to be fairly geekish.
I love reading fantasy novels, although my taste tends to run towards classic Swords & Sorcery fiction rather than Tolkienesque high fantasy that seems to dominate the market at the moment. My favourite authors include Fritz Leiber, Robert E. Howard, HP Lovecraft, Jack Vance, L Sprague De Camp, Clark Ashton Smith, CL Moore, Leigh Brackett, A Merritt, and Poul Anderson.
I also love pen-and-paper roleplaying games, especially the classics like Dungeons & Dragons and Vampire: The Masquerade.
It should come as no suprise to learn that I have always been a huge admirer of fantasy artwork. I love the works of Luis Royo, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, and many others.
I discovered Poser about a year and a half ago and was instantly hooked. I loved the way that it could be used to generate photo-realistic images of the human form. As soon as I saw what Poser could do, I knew that I had to learn to use it.
It's a bit embarrassing to look back on some of my early efforts, but I suppose that everybody's got to start somewhere. I still regard myself as a relative Poser newbie, perhaps because I am still in awe at the things that talented people can do with it. However, as my Poser skills improve, I am slowly building up my confidence. I just wish that my postwork techniques were better!
