Transistor radio: Beep…beep…beep… this is an emergency Grackle broadcast… we are currently tracking over ten thousand inbound missiles from the Cettise Fleet… seek shelter immed… (Transmission cuts off, static follows)
Huror: Stand fast brother, there is nowhere you can hide.
Jasai: Here come the missiles…
(Raven Province air defense system lights up the night sky, the sound is deafening)
Sern: Roael… stop…
Roael: Ahhhhhhhhh… make it stop, make it stop…
Trey: We have a runner.
Sern: It’s Roael, he’s scared.
Trey: I’ll go get him.
Corae: We have to get the kids underground.
Boae: I want to go home… I want to go home!
Sern: Stay calm.
Jasai: I didn’t know it would be like this…
Sern: Just breathe, it’ll be okay, let’s get in the tunnel where we found the moon staff.
Corae: Everyone… this way… hurry.
Huror: Huror will not go under the ground.
Bobby: I’m not going underground either.
Kolae: Ahhhhh… I want mommy…
Corae: Come on, sweety, it’ll be okay.
Huror: Leave him, they must harden.
Corae: We have to get underground, now!
Huror (roaring): I SAID LEAVE HIM! I SAW THREE MILLION OF MY PEOPLE BURIED UNDER A MOUNTAIN BY THESE MISSILES, WE WILL NOT HIDE.
Corae: Huror, calm down.
Bobby: Where’s that Grackle news camera… come here, camera.
(Two Grackle news cameras come to face Bobby)
Trey: I’ve got Roael… what’s going on? We have to get underground. Bobby, let’s go.
(Huror steps between Trey and Bobby.)
Trey: Woah… calm down, big guy.
Bobby (facing the cameras and visibly shaking): I’m Bobby Andel, and I’m so scared I think I just peed myself. I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening in the sky right now, but I will not run… WE must not run. There isn’t any place you can hide from these missiles. They want us to run and hide, they’re coming. Stay in your positions and get ready to fight. We don’t get a second chance.
Trey: We need to get these kids to safety now.
Corae: Huror is right, there is no safe place. Look at Bobby, Senator Lam’t’galla was right also. Bobby is giving the Darai people the courage to stand.
Trey: At least get everyone out of the open, there’s a lot of flak that will be falling to the ground, and soon.
Corae: Here, everyone get under the arches.
Boae (crying): How long is this going to last?
Trey: Until it’s over. Hang in there, buddy.
Special Notes: I toned this way down from what I could have written. I've been on the receiving end of a missile attack before, it is most unpleasant. To this very day, almost thirty years later, even the doorbell can make me jump. You never fully get over something like that.

Even this much is more than enough. Many innocent people are going through this everyday - most in the name of peace; war, although necessary at times, is so senseless! Since I never experienced any trauma in my life comparable to this I can only hope my actions might be similar to Huror's and Bobby's.
Intense. Reminds me of a certain mud ice comet storm and hiding in a cave with a fox. I wonder if Huror has a secret ability that we don't know about yet. Would be a good time to trans dimensional jump to a better terra formed world...
Fine work with the dialogue on this story Wolfe! Some excellent art as always... ;->
