Description
The mother of a friend died and we were asked if we'd take her cat - "Piper"; described simply as 'large neutered friendly tomcat, eats anything'.
Also very frightened at being 'catnapped' when brought from the mother's house; hid behind the settee for some time. That was last Sunday afternoon.
He's 6 years 9 months, according to the vet who saw him last and is now signed on at that same vet as our moggie.
It's taken him a while to settle in; he still tends to jump at any sudden noise or movement, but, as you can see from the photo, is beginning to feel at home.
'Eats anything' is right; after two days of eating next to nothing he's now 'eating like a horse'.
But he has a habit of wanting a little something during after dark, so I've had a few broken nights ... and is why I haven't been creating any little pictures for Rendo or commenting much on your works of art.
We had some bother getting him to use a litter tray, but, after looking through Jason Galaxy's website and tips, we've overcome those problems and all seems to be fine now. Just as well ... He was used to a cat flap and comeing and going as he pleased. We shan't let him out for a while; don't want him running off or getting lost. Not sure if he's microchipped, but once he has a good (personalised) collar and is chipped, then I think he can be allowed out into the garden.
In fifty years of marriage this is our sixth cat (not counting 'Hunni', who was a lodger). And I have no idea who named him 'Piper' or why they chose that name!

Aaaaw! Such a precious boy!
We always left a new kitty indoors for at least 2-3 Weeks, until we started to let them out.

My daughter brought a female tabby home from the shelter one time. It was a bit older like Piper and took at least two weeks to start feeling comfortable. We both loves cats so it didn't take long for her to come looking for attention. Very hard to keep indoors as she found the door out very tempting. I would recommend keeping the litter box fresh, lol, as long as you don't mind a little extra 'house cleaning' once and a while...

He is a beautiful cat and seems very contented in this photo. It won't take too long for him to settle in. It is good of you to take him in.

Almost an exact copy of my Kitty. She uses the litter box for poo, and the newspapers spread on the floor in the hall for pee. She now has a routine - scratch, pee, meow, scratch. She's really got me trained to come running with the toilet paper roll. Bending the newspaper correctly, I can pour the pee directly into the toilet, wipe the paper, fold it, and into the paper recycle bin. Takes 2 minutes at the most. Oh, she's almost 6 years old. Doesn't like going outdoors in her cage (it scares her) - stays at home and clappers her teeth at passing birds. Nice photo! Keep up the good work. :-)
