there's a song by Peter Gabriel that this puts me in mind of entitled 'i have the touch': pull my chin, stroke my hair, scratch my nose, hug my knees, try drink, food, cigarette, tension without ease i tap my fingers, fold my arms, breathe in deep, cross my legs shrug my shoulders, stretch my back - but nothing seems to please i need contact...

I hadn't heard it, but could easily use it as a description for this... i'll add that, in our times we substitute touch with cyber contact way way too much

i wholly agree... and a very poor substitute at that, but for some it does seem to suffice, ne'? and i do not mean that judgementally; i mean it as something that just is... as with everything, there are no rights nor wrongs - it is only through intent and how it is used that something begins to become more defined, i think...
