Description
It had taken a little longer than he would have liked, but he managed to get the information he needed out of the mark. The man was still wearing his badge that loudly proclaimed he worked for Tiburon Corp. Sharks indeed - out to gobble up every ounce of ore in the galaxy. This was good. Wulf and Bart had Tiburon uniforms and badges. Where and how they got them was another story. This should go pretty smoothly. He called Bart and told him to meet him back at the bar. After filling him in on the details, Wulf excused himself saying he had 'other things' to attend to. Bart knew what that meant. They both did their side-jobs, but stuck together on the big ones. "You sure you can trust her?" he asked warily.
"I've known her longer than I've known you, B. Yeah, I trust her. She's never given me a reason not to trust her."
"Just keep our thing to yourself, will ya?"
"I always do." Wulf's brow furled at Bart's sudden paranoia.
Bart waved him off. "Don't mind me. The end is in sight and guess I'm just a little nervous."

Xara didn't seem inclined to talk when he got there. She was more interested in getting him undressed. Once they got all that out of their systems - an hour later - he broached the subject. "So...tell me." Xara got up and put on her underwear. "Come with me. There's something I want to show you. Hopefully, it will speak for itself." Wulf got half dressed, putting on his pants and boots. He watched Xara go to her desk and pull out a hand-held tablet. She called up a page and sat it on the table, then sat herself down. He joined her, picking up the tablet. "I suppose you want me to look at this?" "Please do. It'll tell you things that if I said them to you, you may or may not believe me." She paused, staring at the table for a moment, then sighed. "There are no alien artifacts. I had to be sure you'd come. You're walking into a trap, Wulf...and I don't mean my little one." She continued as he looked at what she'd pulled up. His chain of expressions told her she'd done this the right way. Wulf had serious trust issues, but in his line of work that was to be expected. "Remember those alien artifacts you highjacked back in '24? Tell me, what else happened that year?" After thinking a bit, he said, "Bart." Wulf laid the tablet on the table. He'd seen enough. "Bart happened that year." Now he understood his partner's paranoia and his statement about the end being in sight. "How'd you find all this stuff?" He was referring to the records and correspondences she'd pulled up for him - correspondences between his partner and the authorities here on the station, with lists of their jobs. Xara smiled tightly, "My talents aren't confined to the bedroom, my love. I'm a hacker. I've been a hacker since I was 14 - about two years before we met. I'm sorry I lied about the artifacts but I knew it would get your attention. I swear though, I'm only looking out for you...well...myself too. Us. That titanium job is a set-up, pure and simple. They're set to bust you, bigtime. You need to get out of here and I've got it all set up so you can. You just have to trust me on this. I don't want to see you go down like this. It would be an untimely and ignoble end to your brilliant career." "Why are you doing this, Xara?" The words came out in a rush. "Why do you think, Wulf? You're the only one I could ever depend on all these years. You always looked out for me, now I'm returning the favor...s. I've known about Bart for awhile now. I couldn't tell you right out, for fear you wouldn't believe me - so I went digging. I've got new identities for us and I can pull all your funds and mine from our accounts and put them on our new credit chits. They won't be able to backtrack it. Trust me, pleae. If I meant you harm, I could have done it many times over. I've got a ship waiting down on the next level. Get dressed...." "Hold on there, darlin'." His mind was racing but not his blood-pressure. He needed to connect all the facts and process them. He'd learned long ago, getting in a tizzy over ANYthing was dangerous. The body affected the mind and panic was never a good mode to consider one's options. He raised a finger at her and said calmly, "I need a few to sort this all out in my head." "Fine." Xara stood up, "I'm gonna go get dressed and make some coffee. You want some? Something to eat before we leave?" "Just the coffee. Go on...." tbc

Great story-telling again from you, Ray! The scene is done perfectly, love the way these two are so comfortable discussing work half nekkid =D to me, that reinforces that their little 'session' prior wasn't just carnal~ They have genuine emotions for each other. Top notch work!
