A beautiful subdued atmosphere this picture shows, Alan. It also reflected (in my opinion) processing of grief. A great looking landscape, and I'm glad you could post this intense picture. So, thank you for sharing, Alan.

What I wouldn't do to live in a country that had landscapes like this within a days drive in the middle of Feb! I wonder if the bridge is not a subliminal symbol of passing over, accentuated by the distal mistiness which symbolizes the unknown beyond. I especially like the pure tranquility and the subtle leading line from the trees on the left.

This is why I am such a fan of the English countryside, it is timeless. This speaks of flutes and lutes and sackbuts. Eternal and enduring. My own mother has been gone for twelve years and I have felt the loss. It never goes away but it does soften over time. Sooner or later I hope you reach that state of grace, as I have, where her memory will bring a smile before it brings a tear. Welcome back.
