Description

"The true harvest of my life is intangible - a little star dust caught, a portion of the rainbow I have clutched" ~ Henry David Thoreau As we move to our next stop on our journey through the Tarot, we see a woman sitting beneath a blanket of tiny, bright beacons, pouring two cups out -- one into water and the other onto earth. A single, brilliant star sits low on the horizon behind her, bathing the world in soft, blue-white light. The path to this point has not been easy. We have faced Death, shivered before the Devil, and plunged into harsh truth from The Tower. Now, finally, we can reap the fruit of the seeds we have worked so hard to sow. The star is a card of balance, harmony, faith, and peace. Just as the woman in the picture pours water on earth and water, we can nourish ourselves with both our intuition and our sensibilities. We cannot neglect one for the other; they must work in harmony. To get here, we must truly learn to accept changes, be willing to free ourselves from our vices, and face painful truths that ultimately hinder us. If we do, then the peace of The Star is ours for the taking. Notice that the cup-bearer is not looking over her shoulder. She does not check to see that the star is still there, nor does she look into the shadows for any hint of danger. She trusts. Similarly, we must -- at some point -- develop trust that the universe can provide the future we want if we are willing to work for it. While it is difficult in our darkest moments to say, "Everything is as it should be. The universe is reacting to all the choices made in it. It is not inherently bad." It's very hard to say things are "as they should be" when a voice inside you is screaming that "it's not fair!" or "it shouldn't have happened this way!" The key to positioning yourself for the best possible future is to see that the universe only generates actions based on all the actions which happen within it. We therefore have a choice in a portion of our future. We can be victims who resent what they have "been given," or we can be contributors who fully invest themselves in a future that they provide on their own. Rendered in Poser Pro 2012.
