Description

My long overdue decision to put Poser on the shelf and start taking 3dsmax seriously seems to be finally realized. Here's a simple render of my first car modeling I've been working on in the past week. At around 27 hours of work so far, the model still has quite a few details I have to add and then a lot of trial and error on the materials, particularly for the lights. But I feel it's at a respectable enough stage to share an image and maybe get some opinions. Thank you for dropping by and any comments or criticism.

Awesome and how exciting! I think it looks absolutely beautiful, but in the interest of your request, it seems like the tread on the tires is a bit steep. I went outside and looked at our car (low profile racing style tires) and it is just that the edge is a little bit more curved, but it could just be the lighting. I think this is so wonderful, beautiful work so far (the rims are wonderful).

Thank you all. @Oringor: Thank you for the actually pretty valid point. I'm sure the vertical lighting does not help but I see exactly what you mean. I think, looking at the model (http://i.imgur.com/QNDGD.jpg), that the thin ring going around the tire is the one causing the sharp shadow here and I should probably move it in a bit before rounding the tire.

I like the lighting, it has a very Car Graphic feel about it, very porfessional indeed, helped by the B&W look too I feel
