Description

This was originally inspired by a Ghosthunter's episode on the Hellfire Club held in the Hellfire Caves of England. After watching I felt compelled to create a Bryce scene in a cave(for later). Then I did some research at the Wikipedia on the club, then plugged the render into Artmatic Pro, messed with that for a bit, then sent it through Filter Forge, then found the Old French saying: do what thou wilt which was the motto of the club. I used a Rosewood font for that, and found the public domain unicursal hexagram at Wikipedia and messed with that in Pixelmator. I have more ideas in mind for other renders now, but was playing and learning and having fun. I also started remembering the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury which I've always loved, and went for a vintage circus poster look. Hopefully I'll reread the book or watch the movie again and be inspired to do a render of that. So, this is what I came up with today. I haven't joined any secret societies or mystics, but I have always found their histories fascinating. I once lived in a Masonic temple (I rented it) and converted it into a dance studio--when I was young. It was amazing exploring all the intriguing artifacts they'd left behind in their attic. It's amazing where our ideas come from sometimes. I've not thought of that place in a while. Thanks for looking and for any comments you care to leave. Wishing you all a creative week ahead.

A really awesome image. Have you been hanging around Mandi's gallery? This really captures the Mystical Soiciety look and feel. Something Wicked for sure. Never read that book but I've seen the movie. I'd love to see what you do with that one. Is there a good carousel model around? I'd give that a try if I could find one...

When I saw this I immediately thought of a poster for some mysterious happenings. I've never heard of the Hellfire Club, guess I have some homework to do. I love this, it has such a great mood. Even the font reminds me of Ouija. Excellent piece of creatively.

Mysterios render, Cathy. Appropriate to your theme. Of course, if you were a member of a secret society, you probably wouldn't divulge the fact. After all, it's a secret! Great use of all of the different programs.

I wanted to view this upside down... and why not? But because I am suffering from dizzy spells I had to turn it round in an art program. Why go to this trouble, I hear one ask. Well, it felt more mysterious - like a mystical adventure of discovery - and besides, it's what I wanted to do, so I did.

Wow, that's quite the process you went through, it obviously worked! Something Wicked This Way Comes is my all time fave Ray Bradbury story, it's an interesting influence.

Excellent image! It was very interesting to hear about your inspiration and thought process. I haven't read Something Wicked This Way Comes in a while either. It's a great book. This has a wonderful look of the unsavory and mysterious undercurrent that is often associated with circuses. Wonderful atmosphere!
