Description

This is probably an English Arts and Crafts mahogany mantle clock with mother of pearl and brass inlay, around 1904 maybe. It's about time I had it repaired so it works again!

A beautifully shaped clock - I especially like the elegant Art Nouveau style brass flourishes at the top. I guess fixing it to tell time would be nice, but it's very appealing as an art object even without that functionality...

Wow what a beautiful antique Andrea !

You know at a standstill it has the right time 2x a day !

I so admire you for having so many valuable antiques and hidden treasures, it would be a pleasure and honour to walk through your home to see them ! Not to mention your gorgeous flower garden that takes one's breath away by the photos you share..

God Bless !

I've said it before but I really admire the craftsmanship that went into everyday items in earlier times. The big bonus was that average folks could acquire them. A clock this fine is only available today to people with fat wallets. A lovely image.

what Mark wrote---about the difficulty getting a clock like this today---is so true. (But then, what Mark writes is always true.) (He's one of our best commenters.) I had to look up 8 day clock, believe it or not: Now I know what that means. Your postwork on the surrounding areas is wonderfully subtle, making it like woodgrain everywhere. And the light on the clock is strong and powerful. And the white surrounding is a fine contrast. A very fine shot of a beautiful old beast. Whether it works or not, it's a beauty.
