Title: Mikey Wants Poser Pro 2012 Story: Santa has been going through the Naughty or Nice list and checking it twice. As he decides if Mikey is Naughty or Nice the Elves all notice that Mikey is asking Santa for Poser Pro 2012. Santa doesn't know what poser is, but all the Elves are excited to tell him about it. Santa notices Rudolph walking around sad and calls him to come sit on his lap. He finds out the other reindeers have been making fun of his nose. Santa tells Rudolph he wants him to guide his sleigh... Rudolph trys to hold in his tears of joy when a girl Elf comes up to him and congratulates him... she says to Rudolph: "See, Magical Holidays do exist, you are loved" Inspiration? the 2D contest. I felt like painting, so I painted over every pixel of a 3D image I made. I thought since I Painted over EVERYTHING I could enter this in the 2D contest... It was rejected and I was told it had to be moved to the 3D catagory. Poser6 and Photo Explosion were the two programs I used. ................. 3rd PLACE WINNER ................. Every year I look forward to the Seasonal Contest. This year I thought I'd try something a little different. I made a 3D image with poser6, I decided that I was going to paint over it and enter that one in the 2D.... the thought behind it was since I've been here, 6 years, there has always been 3D images in the 2D - I didn't think that was fair, but it was acceptable. So, I submitted the painted version for the 2D. I was rejected because 3d/rendered images are not allowed in 2D... I stated that if you look back on all the previous years you will see 3D images in there. I told them, ok, put my painted image in the 3D catagory. The contest was closed.... when it was viewable and up for Voting, the last two images both stated they used poser and the last image in the contest was All poser. So, I emailed and complained... I talked a few people before Stacey replied to my complaint. She told me that there were new people who posted the last two images in the contest and didn't know... I told Stacey, I read over the rules and no where does it state a poser or rendered image cannot go into the 2D contest... Rule number 2 even states you can use any program. Stacey told me that the 2D is meant for non rendered images, but she was aware that these images have been in the 2D contest. She offered to move my image from 3D to 2D, but it had already been a few days since the voting started... she offered ma a $100 gift card for the problem. Yesterday I found out I took third place!!! I didn't get Poser Pro Like I wanted, but poser9 is an upgrade from poser6 QUESTIONS........ when I get poser9, is there a way I can download poser9 and all my items from poser 6 goes in it or do I have to download everythings one by one? can anybody tell me what's the differences between poser6 and 9. out of these prizes, who is familiar with them? Can you tell me anything about them? Thanks for the visit, the comment, the faves... thanks for the votes.

Well, when I went from P7 to P12 I could add my entire previous Runtime without reinstalling everything so hopefully you can do a similar thing. The main difference should be speed of interface, render quality and lighting capabilities. There will likely be advances in the different areas like cloth and materials but I don't know the details of all the bells and whistles.

WOW! What a roller coaster ride they put you on with that contest Mike. Guess it was worth it though since you managed to get Poser 9. As ZanderXL mentioned, I too have always just used my old runtime when updating to a newer version of Poser. That way you do not have to re-install anything. I have numerous runtimes within my main runtime. So, here is how it is on my PC: The primary runtime for PP 2012 is left right where Poser puts it when installed. Then I have my old runtime renamed as "My Runtimes" and import it into the PP 2012 library. My old runtime - called "My Runtimes" - has numerous runtimes within it such as "Women", "Men", "Monsters", "Animals" ect. to make it easier to find things. So, that is what I would suggest. Just re-named your Poser 6 Runtime as "Poser 6 Runtime" and import it into the Poser 9 library after you have Poser setup.

Both images look sensational Mike, and if it were up to me you would have been able to be in both contest. Of course if it were up to me a classic fun filled image like this would have been the winner. Congratulations on the 3rd place win, and on the cool prize of a new Poser program as well as everything else.

Congratulations on so many planes Mike! I'm so chuffed(Liverpool for pleased/made up) for you. You delivered exactly what you wrote on the tin so to speak! HOLD ON TO YOUR EXISTING RUNTIME my friend. I have been upgrading mine, for over a year now and it is ULTRA slick and a pleasure to work with. You could, RE-NAME everything, by removing all the !!!!and__*** so to speak. so it just becomes V4 Clothing and not ! Victoria_clothingV4. Remember, NOT to touch or attempt to re-name your TEXTURE or GEOMETRY folders, but everything else is FAIR GAME! lol I can send you some screen shots of how I have laid my Runtime out and I install much of what I buy, by hand, because there are frequent mistakes. You will be able to render some real quality images, but you may need to upgrade a little, but don't throw a lot of money onto a XP computer. Windows 7 can knock the spots off XP in so many ways. Here's an example, to achieve what I used to render on my XP computer, took up to 4 hours. Now, in Windows 7 that same piece, with higher settings, has a better quality finish and renders in about 10 minutes flat! Congratulations my friend! Steve ;)

Congrats again on the win mike, I have Poser 9 and its fabulous the content (to me) is so much easier than it was in poser & witch I had. It is more like Daz studio's directory, and I have characters and morphs and mats for any character clothing, items etc altogether in the same folder makes life so much easier to find, unlike p7 when I tried it It wouldn't find them in the figure file... Lighting is great with the sss and indirect lighting. Bonus for me was it didn't keep crashing like P7 did... Any way you will love it once you find you way round it it will be different to P6 and may take a little time to work out but its not that different that you wont be unfamiliar with most of it.. Enjoy it.. Oh had no problem importing my old runtime from daz either.. They both now share the runtime!!
