Description

2005 – Earth was attacked by vanguard invaders from space only to be destroyed by the germs that no longer affected the inhabitants of the Earth. 2021 – As Earth begins to recover from the invasion with less than 1% of the human population surviving, it was decided to commission a defence task force to protect Earth from other invaders from space to be known simply as Starfleet. 2063 – Renegade scientist Zephram Cochrane made world headlines that he not only discovered the elusive tachyon particle, but also found a way to capture them as well which would potentially “push” the ship to faster than light speeds by “warping” space. But the “warp drive” program was placed on hold in favour of the defence taskforce that not only defends against alien invaders, but to deflect asteroids and other threats of nature. 2105 – A century after what was called the War of the Worlds, a sizable percentage of the people wished to use the possible faster than light travel to explore space and to colonize other worlds. However Starfleet’s position remains that space material and technology should be used to defend the Earth and colonize Mars. 2147 - After so many years, Commodore Jonathan Archer finally convinced Starfleet to begin faster than light test flights to begin the exploration of space by saying that exploring space would be the newest line of defence for Earth by facing the threat out there so Earth wouldn’t have to face it on Earth. 2151 – The battleship Phoenix was retrofitted with a large scale tachyon capture ring that allowed the ship to not only travel faster than light, but to travel to Neptune and back in 6 minutes. But the ship’s power grid could not handle the load for interstellar travel as well as significantly hamper the manoeuvrability of the ship and defences. As a result further plans for interstellar travel were halted. 2153 – It was determined that a series of much smaller coils would work much more efficiently as it didn’t drain the ship’s power, allows freedom of movement, and can be used at high sublight speeds for intrasystem travel thereby reigniting exploration into the stars. 2161 – The first of the battleships was retrofitted with a single faster than light nacelle, dubbed warp nacelle, was introduced to the Valiant, but the pro-exploration Starfleet felt it was necessary to design a new ship with the equipment to explore the vastness of deep space while the pro-defence Starfleet wants the new ship to have the firepower to deal with the possible threats to Earth. This was then the beginning of Project Constitution. 2190 – The first Constitution class faster than light starship, named Enterprise, began its voyage into the unknown. *************************************************** A combination of developing an alternative timeline to the War of the Worlds based Star Trek and inspired by the Portmerion class by ArthurTwosheds. Technologies like phasers, shields, artificial gravity and of course transporters would be developed within the timeline.
