Description
ROSEMARY
Lately, I remember
your black Mohawk sprayed high with varnish pinched white face
licorice eyes
dark flashes whipping me
with guilt and residue of your pain
An unhappy childhood in plastic suburbs your Father in an overstuffed leather chair executive belly pouched out from
his tan cashmere robe
(you called the colour fascist beige) remote control clutched in his hand flicking channels like an involuntary twitch
Bourbon breath spraying at your face
LIAR he calls you in his patronizing voice his anger masked with a smile
You're lying. You're crazy. You don't know what you're talking about.
This scene repeated every night like a bad rerun
S0, you left that house of insanity.
and slept under bridges,
curled up in your leather,
covered with badges of honor, safety pins studs, stickers, and flaky paint
it was your only possession
But you walked chin high pushing shoulders back
barely five feet tall
eyes coal black and unwavering from the truth
with a cruel twist of lips you called me
a parasite
for renting a room with the government check and using the monthly food stamps
You slept on hard cement
and ate from dumpsters
you turned a hard back
to the meddling Social Workers
you tasted bitter disgust
when the Job Finders said smile
Smile to get a menial job and dress in Fascist beige
No
No compromises for you
death found you ...in the winter river
blue, bloated, bone-thin naked.
