Description
Visiting the Lincoln Memorial at night time is quite an experience...and so think alot of other people.
Thought this photo had both potential and alot of grain (see my ISO of 8000). If you zoom in and step back from your screen it should look quite satisfactory, grain and all :-)

I always wanted to see this in person also. it has nothing to do with me, but my great grand father was friends with him before he became president. he even owned the mule that kicked a young Lincoln in the head. the mill has a marker in Indiana at President Lincoln's park

Usually I would try and get a picture without the people blocking Lincoln but here the silhouettes work really well. It looks as if they are gathered to hear the man's words.

It is a truly awe inspiring sight! Unfortunately I thing Abe is hanging his head in shame these days! We no longer have a government "of the people, by the people and for the people"... we have two dysfunctional tribes of self important, self promoting asses more interested in beating each other over the head with ever political issue they can find than actually achieving anything! Its more like "of the incompetent, by the rich and for themselves"!

well your gettysburg quote brought out a few commentaries above...and I agree with tara and others that this is a beautiful shot. (re the grain: I'm convinced, in Genesis, when God separated day from night, he said: "Oh---and leave lotsa grain at night, so when photographers come along, they'll get reeeeallly messed up..." It was one of his little 'jokes'...) The purple light on Lincoln is stunning, here; and the silhouettes of the visitors gives it a human dimension, but also a mystery, because we don't know who they are, where they come from, or what they're thinking. They are looking in every direction, so they're wound-up in whatever they're doing...A really striking shot of a beautiful monument, and glimpses into the lives of people in front of it. Beautiful concept of a photo.
