the render looks amazing.... but i think the wood texture might need to be adjusted. At the end of the middle clothespin it seems to "star" out a bit...just a suggestion...great work though! -chachi

Very excellently done. The top one is more dramatic. The bottom one looks like a product shot, a great product shot by the way. The teaxtures and realism is AWESOME. Never thought clothes pins would look so good.

Really nice texture job.

I like simplistic scenes ;) The texture placement needs some more attention and I would also like to see some randomness in the positioning of the wooden bits. What I mean is that for instance the rightmost pin closes perfectly, the two pieces line up exactly -- by skewing or rotating one of them you would add an element of randomness and therefore break the 3D illusion.

I definitely like the top one better - for all the hooplah over HDRI, sometimes it just plains looks "blah". I agree with Cartesius that they look too 3D perfect - but it also needs to be noted that they look fantastic in the first place! Well done!

i know what you and Cartesius meant ... (while i was making the scene i had the same thought ) but as i wrote above I am creating a 3D objects library to share for. Anyhow thanks for your suggestion and yes ... what you wrote guys is all true .... thanks to everybody DaveEf

Great texturing:) I like the HDRI-version a LITTLE BIT more. The shape is a bit too perfect; it would be much improved with usage of subdivision surfaces [HyperNURBS in Cinema]. Congrats.

Both renders look very relistic and would have been even better had you let Maxwell go on for a few more sample levels. As its a modelling excercise it doesn't really matter but the left peg looks as though it's 'floating' above the surface?

floating Becco? ... pay attention to the tickness of the spring ... i can assure you that the position over the table it's correct ... and much weight over the top thats' wahy it looks like it was floating ;) Take a look at the obeject in the center of the scene ... and pay attention to the rear part of it ;) anyhow thanks for your comment DaveEf
