I'm guessing it's to do with the (false) concept that being armed is being protected...? Hope I haven't completely misinterpreted? Even if I have, can still appreciate exceelent texture and lighting :)

I would not be alive today if my grandmother had not believed in carrying a gun in her purse. The problem with disarmament is that the criminals will still find ways to get guns and the law-abiding will have to rely on overworked police forces with long response times.
