Would you like to tell the Poser 12 Development team something you would like to see added to Poser 12? Or a tool that already exist be improved upon? Tell us here! If you have a tool you use often in Poser, and would like to add features to it, improve the user/interface or improve the output of the tool. Post it here. If you have had something "you have always wanted to see" in Poser..post it here!

IF you are a Renderosity Vendor...and have things you want to see changed/included/added to Poser for content creation..we have another forum just for you! Please send an email to jennblake@renderosity.com for access to that forum.

PLEASE post a NEW thread for every unique subject, item or request so that it will be seen and reviewed. Do not post on an existing thread. If there is thread that you also want...you are welcome to post an "I second this request" or something of that nature. 😄 Or "in addition to what is already asked, please also include"...etc.

IF you have a technical BUG or report of something that you are experiencing with Poser 11.3 that is our current RELEASED version...there is a seperate forum for that I am creating today. 😄 I will come back and post a link to that here for you.

Please keep topic in this forum to POSER 12 and what you would like to see in it. We do not want comparison to like software programs, unless it is in reference to "I use this tool in BLANK all the time and wish Poser had something like it" ideas or suggestions. This is not the place for debate on which is better...or what your personal preference is. Any thread that is not a direct request/suggestion or feature request will be deleted. Any post on an existing thread that is not about the OP will be deleted as well. You can take those conversations to the Poser Forum. 😄

Thank you!

When do you plan to have the Poser 11.3 BUG forum open? I have a bunch of ides to improve Poser 12 BUT it will only work if they fix the problems they put in since Poser 10 was releashed.

I would like to post my suggestions, bug fixing (that persisted for several versions), and feature improvements, but my list is about 53 items long. Do I need to post each on a separate thread? That would be a bit overwhelming.

jennblake ( ) posted Mon, 18 May 2020 at 8:34 AM

@Ken_1171 yes separate threads please...so I can make a full report from this forum and not miss any of them. 😄

@Richard60 - All bug reports can be filed HERE as issues as these are passed on to our testing/dev team. 😄

Was the Poser bug reports history been carried on from SMSI's Mantis to Rendo? I ask because I had a complex queue of open and on-going issues on Mantis, and I would like to avoid re-submiting issues if they were already imported.

One of the on-going tickets referred to fixing the list of affected actors on magnets, which allowed adding actors, but from that point on, we couldn't see which were already added, and could not remove any actors afterwards. One of the SMS Poser developers had added the missing functionality to the PoserPython API and notified me of the changes, but I have lost track of the thread during the transition to Rendo. These new Python API calls were lost during the transition, and I need them to create the new plugin I was working on for Poser 11.

I would like to re-join the Poser beta-testers team with Rendo, so I could continue contributing to the betterment of Poser.I have already submitted my email application to the beta-testing program last week, and I am eager to resume the many dozens of open tickets I had at SMS Mantis with the new Poser dev team at Rendo.

1. Poser bridge to Blender and back to enable people to create Poser morphs in Blender more easily

2. Face transfer from photos to Poser models. Facebuilder for Blender by KeenTools has the right idea; better than FaceGen for Daz3d Studio IMHO.

3. Fix GoZ so it does not import figures modified in ZBrush as props instead or morphs, which is what I've encountered trying to use the Zwrap plugin for ZBrush to modify Poser figures.

Have you tried the "Unimesh Exporter P12" plugin for Poser 12? It allows exporting your morphs to OBJ while preserving the unimesh geometry (assuming the original was unimesh). It can be used to import your morphs for editing in all programs that require unimesh, to include Blender and DAZ Studio. You can watch the demo video from the product page, and see if it does what you want. :)

Besides Ken1171's script there have been a few post transform/difference/weld scripts that allow this

Colorcurvature's PoserMorphLoader scripts... which I use constantly, basically whenever I use Poser. Very nice suite of scripts, unfortunately no longer available. It used to be a MP product. If you do some digging you can still get it. I e-mailed him years ago and he just gave me a copy. If you PM me I can give you a copy. IIRC, he allows sharing of the scripts now that they are unavailable... or so he stated in a long ago post. The suite does additional morph related things besides. I've used it as a bridge to Mudbox, Blender, and a couple of other modelers/sculpting apps. Far superior to GoZ IMO. Though I have Zbrush I rarely use GoZ but rather PML. GoZ is the only export/import option for SubD morphs however. Unfortunately I don't believe this script works in Poser 12.

Forum member adp001 created a script that does basically the same thing. It's more minimalist in design. You can find it here, further down the page, im_export.py

Works in 12 and 11 and was designed with Blender bridge in mind specifically.

I agree though, it would be nice if such functionality were bundled with Poser. Seems silly that such things might be rendered obsolete by software changes. A working solution should be bundled with the utility scripts that ship with Poser.

An environmental dome or sphere, where we can put the equirectangular HDRIs and with a shadow catcher too, that's important, and of course, a Go To Blender plug in, we, the blender users desperately need that, also, the already known issue, a way to export the objs for creating morphs that don't end up being a total mess when imported back to Poser.

the ball in the primitives can use equirectangular HDRIs, just scale it up a bunch. And the flat ground (rather than the construct) can be a shadow catcher. Just check the shadow catcher in the poser surface node in the mat room. One caveat, you need to use it with the background node rather than a sphere in superfly as it doesn't render anything below it except the background.

And yes, a go to blender feature would be awesome

In most rendering engines, a HDRI map is a property of the engine, not something mapped to a prop we manually load into the scene. In Octane Render running as a Poser plugin, there is no sphere or domes loaded anywhere. Same in the original Cycles engine from Blender3D - HDRI doesn't require loading spheres or dome props to map it. As a matter of fact, if we a load a dome in Octane, it obstructs the HDRI light, and the whole scene turns pitch black. Same with I-ray in DS and iClone, where HDRI is a property of the rendering engine - no prop loading required.

I believe domes and spheres were an old workaround Poser required in the past, so it's about time for Poser HDRI to become a property of the Cycles engine. By now I am getting away with mapping HDRI into the Poser "background" as a material. That's the closest we can get without loading props, but it's still a workaround, and it offers poor feedback to how the map affects the scene.

Maybe when CyclesX comes to Poser, it could also solve this problem. If Blender Cycles doesn't require loading external domes and spheres, Poser shouldn't either. That's my 2 cents on the issue.

The background! Thank you! How come I missed that! I tested it and it works, but! We need it to be more friendly to the preview mode and not having to use a quick render to see where I am pointing at, but it does the job! I already made the shader files to go with it, using the background already provided nodes, and no, I didn't delete the detached nodes.

I have the same major wish that I had with Poser 11. Make Superfly and Cycles completely compatible. If I make something in Blender, I can't just import it into Poser because Superfly will be missing a few nodes that are present in Blender. At least explain to me WHY that has to be so!!!!!

I realize that Poser 13 is in beta testing and this request may be late (at best). Also, it is considerably less technical than those suggested by others. But it reflects my use:

(1) I would like to have a precise library search function. As a long-time Poser user, I (like others) have a large amount of content spread across numerous libraries. To find something in the library’s search tab, I’d like to check (for example) the Props box and search for “bed” without having Poser return bedding, bed table, bedpan (don’t ask), bed pillow, bedroom, etc. Perhaps precise search functions exist and I’m simply clueless? If so, I apologize for the suggestion. Otherwise, a precise search function would eliminate considerable frustration.

(2) I’d like an option to pre-set rendering dimensions. For example, I render full size images @ 2732 x 2048 pixels at a 264/pixels per inch resolution. But when I save a character/prop/pose/material, etc. to the library, I render a 91 x 107 pixel image @ 72 pixels per inch thumbnail. Currently I type in each setting manually. Would like to be able to simply call up a preset. Again, if this ability exists, I apologize for not having discovered it.

While I get tired of having over-exuberant results in the library too, I'd like a switchable option. Sometimes I want bedding to show up with the search of bed. Sometimes I can't remember the full name so I'll search by what I can remember.

You both are right, and I'll add another parameter to add to the search function: the ability to search in a list of runtimes, not all or at least in one specific runtime. After all, there's a database managing system behind, so that endless possibilities could be added without difficulties.

You can already do this in Poser 12. Hold down the alt key and click on the open/close arrow and it will do the same for all the parts below it.

why not make next to an object a COPY or PASTE button?
not a big deal to program but would save a lot of time (and tears)

Foremost, I realize the timing of this post is not opportune in light of today’s announced March 2023 release of Poser 13: https://www.posersoftware.com/article/565/poser-13-release-on-track-for-march-23 Still, I think, this is (might be, maybe) a simple fix for the issue RedPhantom highlighted in the Poser Official Forum: https://www.renderosity.com/forums/threads/2976744/wrong-version-of-poser

Many of us have multiple versions of Poser installed. I use Poser 12 for most things but use Poser 11 to run scripts that no longer work in Poser 12. I’ll likely keep both when Poser 13 arrives. Yet all Poser versions named the .exe file “Poser.exe”. The Windows file association (thingy) doesn’t different between the Poser.exe file in the Poser 11 folder and the same file in the Poser 12 folder. It appears to simply assign the latest installed program to the .pz3 et al files. Opening a scene from Windows Explorer will open the last installed Poser version—and not give the user an opportunity to open a different Poser version. For example, if one had to reinstall Poser 11 after installing Poser 12 or 13, Windows Explorer would associate the .pz3 file with the Poser.exe file in Poser 11 without an option to select another Poser version.

I’m not a programmer but it seems the solution is to create unique Poser.exe file names (i.e. “Poser13.exe” through “PoserInfinity.exe”). That would eventually allow a user to select another program from the drop-down menu of application choices.

Just my contribution to the Marketplace of Ideas.

Since there is no Poser 13 feature request, and it's probably WAY to late anyway, here is a request for Poser 13/14?

Floating docs are great, but it would be nice for those of us with multiple monitors if those floating docs could be combined into a second screen so they don't all need their screen stealing title bars.

Oh yeah, Wine support under Linux too. LOL!

I do the same thing. For every version I have installed, I name the EXE with its Poser version. Nonetheless, Windows still can't tell the difference versions, so file association might be still be random. That's why I keep separate shortcuts for each version.

That can be done now with P11/P12, just make sure that the General Preferences remember the last UI setting and move as many panels to the second monitor as you would like.  I already have this set up on a 2-monitor system and whenever I relaunch Poser the panels appear where I left them.
