Came across this tutorial last night and since it is using the new 2.8 release of Blender to make a Mandelbulb Fractal which is something different from the usual modeling tutorials I usually post about. So if you want to see the possibilities of the new 2.8 release here is something to wet your whistle

Well, I'm not into playing with nightly builds, but once 2.8 has a formal RC, I will definitely be trying this out, as I'm a fractal freak. 😁

ha this was pretty cool. Will see how it works in 2.79 later on when I append the shader to the cycles engine.

It was the first unique tutorial for the upcoming 2.8 and I agree I do not like playing with nightly builds bit something to look forward to trying once the stable release is out

I havn't played around with a nightly build since last year but got the latest just to try this out and it looked really cool. Converting to use in 2.79 and cycles took longer than expected though and gave up in the end as when I did get it set up to render the same 10 second animation which took eevee 7 1/2 minutes to do was going to take 1667 hours in 2.79 and cycles at 100 samples 1000x1000 denoise etc. I ended up rendering one frame at 5 samples in 1000x1000 which took about 15 minutes and looked like crap to say the least lol.
