Subject: Explosion Tutorial Recommendation Request

JagoBC ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2018 at 5:21 PM · edited Thu, 28 March 2024 at 8:26 AM

My current animation project calls for a ball exploding. Can anyone point me to a tutorial that might help me achieve that goal?

Thanks!

The is a plug-in for Poser pre-11 "Particles3", if you are interested I can see if it is still available. It is a free python script and takes a little bit to install. The effects are decent, but it doesn't work in Poser 11.

Thanks!

I actually still use P5 & P9. Will it work with either of those?

I found Particles 3 and am playing with it now.

P5 ... not sure, but I'm pretty sure it will work with P9. Have fun!!

It does not work with P5! :(

Not much does work with P5. I'd take it outside and shoot it, if I was you.

Ah, but P5 was a nice stepping stone between P4 and P6. It was the beginning of big changes for Poser.

It's where I started. And I use it occasionally just for posing because it is so pared down compared to those >= 9. I think if it had more lighting options I'd still use it most!

I can see that ... I just recall that it was released before it was ready ... and caused a lot of issues for the buyers.

I liked it as a step up from P4 but ditched it without a backward glance when P6 came out.

For P9/Pro2012 on, you'd want Snarlygribbly's updated version, Particles 3+. Poser's Python version changed in P9.

Also, you need to consider whether the ball is solid or hollow, and whether the pieces are rigid or soft.

Very good points, mate. A solid ball made of - for example - concrete will explode in a completely different way from a soccer ball.
